Grafting pawpaws

Grafting pawpaws

I’m going to experiment grafting pawpaws next year with winter-collected scion wood. I have a handful of wild pawpaw seedlings to use as root stock. From what I’ve gathered, stem diameter is the most important factor when making grafting decisions. I’m also wondering if root stock height matters. For example, if diameter is the same, would it better to cut root stock lower on the plant (A) or higher on the plant (B)? Thanks for any advice.

Pawpaw seeds germinating

This is my first time trying to germinate pawpaw seeds. It’s almost July, but id given up hope probably a month ago that anything would come from this experiment. I kept the soil moist because the tray was next to plants needing watered anyway. Today I noticed three seeds germinating! Lesson learned: never give up on pawpaws!

Water hydrant leaking

This hydrant has been leaking for over a year, but it’s gotten more leaky recently. How concerned should I be? I’m currently at about a 6 out of 10 on the freak out scale. Finding the right people to help with situations like this when living in the country isn’t easy.
