After months of being unable to find one online without an insane mark up, I managed to find the Hello Kitty kit at my local store for 30 bucks

First time using a light box. Any advice on how to take even better pics? Including editing in post?

Moon Gundam HG with only panel lining, no top coat.

I apply topcoat indoors, should I stop doing that?

I have a cardboard box that I just hold my parts in front of and spray them. I have a ceiling fan that I put on full blast and I open the windows to ventilate the room. I also wear a mask while spraying.

Barbatos MG Clear Color Version (featuring my DIY display case)

As you can see, it is not entirely clear. I painted the clear white armor parts with a metallic/steel finish.

What is the WORST piece of UC Gundam media in your opinion?

I think it’s Narrative. Like it’s not an unwatchable movie, it’s just a lot worse than everything else. Even if it were a show instead of a movie I don’t think there’s much there, the most interesting thing about it is how it makes an attempt to further contextualize how cyber-newtypes are made and that coulda just been included in Unicorn. Other than that it’s just pure vibes and no substance.

Are there any Gundam publications similar to this book?

Basically a book that delves deeply into the technology used in universe with cross sections and such.

Does the 2028 Xi Gundam have parts to build the original shield or does it only have the new one?

I want the 2026 Xi but I don’t like the battle damaged shield. Does it still have the original on the runner or is the damaged one your only option?

The dislike for ZZ’s less serious beginning is unwarranted and it makes sense for the show to start out that way

The way I see ZZ Gundam is that it’s almost like the War in the Pocket OVA but with more screen time. War in the Pocket is often told through the POV of a child who is unfamiliar with the realities of war and therefore is able to remain cheerful in situations where Bernie is on edge. The OVA features a lot of upbeat music during the scenes told from the child’s POV and it changes for scenes featuring only Bernie or other adults. It isn’t until the end of the OVA when >!Bernie dies!< that the child finally understands what’s going on and his innocence is lost. In the final scene, the child is visibly distressed while his classmates continue to treat war like a game.

I think that ZZ basically tells a similar story. Judo is just a kid who is only focused on one thing: making money with his friends. Even after getting involved with the Argama crew, he continues to be nonchalant and treat things unseriously. He doesn’t immediately grasp the conflict he’s getting in the middle of…until maybe halfway into the show when shit really gets real for him. His story arc is quite similar to that of the child from War in the Pocket, but I think a lot of people don’t see it that way because they watched the OVAs after the fact.

This wasn’t my original intention, but basically this is a propaganda post saying that watching the One Year War OVAs immediately after 0079 is the superior way to watch UC Gundam as the additional world building only improves your experience with Z and ZZ.

Are there any matte top coats that will work well with metallic paint?

I’m currently building a Penelope HG and have painted all my red pieces with a metallic red instead of sticking with the original shade, I used the GM155 Gundam Marker.

The top coat I usually use is the Mr. Hobby Mr.Super Smooth Clear Matt, and while I like it a lot, it has definitely covered up the sheen on other kits. For example it covered up the iridescent clear plastic parts on my Kyrios MG kit. Are there any matte top coats that will not totally remove the sheen from parts that are supposed to shine or do I just need to use a different type of coat? Or just like…top coat everything besides the painted parts.
