Amazon call backs?

I finished my final round of Amazon interviews 12 days ago for an EHS Manager position, and haven’t heard anything from the recruiter. On Monday, 5 days after the interviewers had their meeting, my Amazon jobs application said no longer under consideration, but again no word back from the hiring manager or recruiter despite several emails.

I did get a post-interview survey but I was expecting a phone call or email about a thumbs up or down for the position. Has anyone else had this happen, or is there someone else I should reach out to? Should I give it a few more days or assume I didn’t get the position?

I thought the interviews went really well, and the final interviewer seemed very positive and optimistic afterwards so I’m hoping I’m not being pessimistic about it.

Lost Keys at Larus Park?

If you lost your keys for a Volvo at Larus Park, they are at the Sneed’s Nursery parking lot sign.

Semi-truck obliterated pedestrian crossing sign

At the corner of 21st and Dock street this morning. I was walking along the canal and a semi-truck made a left turn too sharply and ran over the pedestrian crossing sign. After stopping for about 30 seconds, the driver drove off (maybe he saw me taking photos). I couldn’t get the license plate but the police officer said he could get the traffic camera footage from up the street.

Funny thing was the cop said this particular sign gets hit often and is designed to be knocked off the block and put back up. Any bets on when it will be fixed?

Looking for advice - STBXW abducted daughter

Apologies in advance for the long post and I’ll clarify any questions in the comments but long story short, my (43M) soon to be ex-wife (46F) served me divorce papers on my retirement day from the military last month. We have been married since 2004 and this was a surprise to me. As far as I can tell, she had been planning this for at least a couple of years and was just waiting until I wasn’t providing anything for her she couldn’t get in a divorce and served me papers.

So that part is probably not uncommon…my discussions with counselors and seeing the threads here make me realize that there is not much use in trying to salvage any kind of relationship with her, even if I still wanted to. But…we were living in Japan for the past 3 years at my last active duty station. We are U.S. citizens with no connection or ties to Japan. The week before I left Japan to come to the U.S. my spouse got her own job with a work visa, allowing her to stay in Japan. Again, that would be fine but she added our 12 year old daughter to the visa and not me.

She consulted with a divorce attorney virtually, found my location via a car tracker app, and I was served by a Florida court. I started to file in North Carolina but can’t get her served overseas, although I will have someone hand deliver the paperwork to her in about 3 weeks.

Now for the child abduction part. We agreed that she could stay in Japan with our daughter for 6 weeks so she could finish the school year. I returned to the U.S. to complete my retirement and look for a job, etc. I never agreed to any arrangement where they remained in Japan indefinitely, but that is what is happening now.

The Florida court won’t assume jurisdiction of the child, but thinks they can dissolve the marriage. The North Carolina court can’t do much until she is served. Everyone I’ve spoken to has basically said that as long as she doesn’t return to the U.S. then she will keep custody and get the divorce on whatever terms the judge allows.

Do I dissolve the marriage through the Florida court even though they won’t be able to assign custody? If I contest the divorce, will that require an in-person hearing? My thought is that if she has to appear in court, our daughter will return to the U.S. and I’ll be able to prevent her from being taken overseas again.

I have a lot more questions, but it’s just a flood of so many unknowns right now I don’t even know where to begin.

I need some legal papers hand delivered to a person in Okinawa but I can’t seem to find any business that does it. Since this would be to a U.S. citizen about U.S. matters, it doesn’t require Japanese courts involvement but trying to find someone who I can hire to hand deliver the papers. Any suggestions or know anyone who is willing to drop off some documents for payment?
