Which FMCs have the strongest character? Which are forgettable?

I find that the FMCs sometimes are so bland and replaceable in RKs books. But she's had a few that had so much character and grit that you can't help but love them.

Top tier FMCs:

- Mia

- Ava

- Silver

- Sasha

Forgettable (FMCs that can be replaced in the book and the story would barely change - MMCs carried the book)

- Glynn

- Cecy (I know I'll get hate for this 😭)

- Kimberly

- Violet

Thoughts? What's your list?

Rina Kent - Legacy of Gods - Books that were comfort reads, one time reads and DNFs

It was a rollercoaster ride reading {Legacy of Gods by Rina Kent}. Some of the books I have read multiple times, and others I could not even get through once.

Overall, I would say I enjoyed the series as a whole. The interconnectedness and the number of characters that were introduced were annoying at the beginning, but as I read through the books, I loved seeing the same interactions from a different perspective.

Here is my ranking of the books.

  1. God of Fury:

I know I am not alone in this; this book was fantastic. It quickly became an all-time favourite for me, and I have read this multiple times since then. This was the first MM book I picked up, and I was so nervous about it. But it did not disappoint.

Brandon and Nikolai were so well developed. I felt connected to both of their characters, and I was invested in their growth from the start. Bran's emotional trauma was heartbreaking. And I loved Nikolai's unhinged character. He just did not know when to give up. The care he showed to Bran was so touching that you couldn't help but love him.

I found that Rina Kent's books have a major power imbalance between the MCs for MF books. GOF, while having some power imbalance, wasn't so great that it felt frustrating.

This book has become a bit of a comfort read for me.

  1. God of War

The plot of this book was entirely different than all the others. I was so excited to read Ava and Elis story just from the summary. I thought the negative reviews were a bit harsh on this one. It was overall an enjoyable book with some pitfalls.

Ava, while irritating sometimes, was overall a lovable character. As we dived into her mental health, you couldn't help but feel scared for her. Eli was not what the other books made him out to be. I would have liked to see more interactions between them before she lost her memory. Nonetheless, it was fun to see him get worked up over Ava.

After GOF, this is the other book where you can see the MMC actually cares deeply for the FMC. The power imbalance does not take the care and love away from the MCs as it did in the other books.

  1. God of Ruin

Mia and Landon were fun characters to read. Mia could give it as good as she got, which made their banter entertaining.

Landon's high mightiness POV was annoying at times, and I skimmed through some of those bits. But the book was a good read, and I would recommend it.

  1. God of Malice

That non-con scene at the start was so good. That was what got me started on this journey.

But overall, this is a one-time read at best. Glyn had no personality, and Kill was so overpowering that she stood no chance. I also disliked that RK tried to make the non-con part to mean something more later on in the book.

  1. God of Pain

I finished this book, but barely. I could not feel connected to the whole revenge plot. Annika's character was the saving grace here. I appreciate that she continued to love and fight for her family despite Creighton's pushiness.

  1. God of Wrath

I did not finish this book. I couldn't find anything original about Cecily and Jeremy. The power imbalance was so great that each interaction was a pain to read. And unlike the GOP and GOM, I could not find any saving graces which would have pushed me to finish this book.

---

Some of the books were worth the hype, and others not so much. God of Fury and God of War were my favourites. God of Fury has actually become a comfort read.

Books with non-con and no body betrayal. MMC has guilt or slight remorse.

I'm struggling here to find a book that fits the criteria below. {Lemonade} is one that fits well.

The issue is that if a book features non-con, it includes body betrayal. And with body betrayal, it provides a lazy way to get the MCs together because she can't help herself. OR it dives so deep into non-con that it includes gaslighting and breaking FMC's mind that it becomes too dark.

What I am looking for:

-MMC plans this or snaps in anger, jealousy and desire

-It can be true forceful non-con or it can be blackmail/coercion for revenge. In the latter scenario, FMC is going through the motions, and no pleasure is derived from it

-He is aware that this is wrong

-Guilt for hurting the FMC

-Some concessions to the FMC for attempts at reconciliation

-No body betrayal

-she has a reasonable reaction, which includes fear, anger and rage

-HEA or HFN

--

What I don't like:

-body betrayal

-gaslighting

-delusional mmc that thinks that fmc is enjoying it or wants it (see Theo from {Perfect by Ariana Rivers}

-bdsm

-door mat FMC

I prefer CR but historical, bodice rippers and fantasy are welcome!
