Denied my $400 welcome bonus
I signed up for SoFi because of the $400 bonus if you direct deposit a total of $5000 within 25 days of your first direct deposit.
On April 22, I got my first direct deposit, and it coded correctly. Unfortunately, I don't make $5000 per paycheck, so I had to wait until the next one to qualify for the full bonus.
On May 7, SoFi rolled out the "Instant Transfers" feature to everyone. After this date, I received more direct deposits from my employer, all of which are now coding as "Instant Transfer Deposits". Surprise! These deposits aren't eligible towards my $5000 threshold, and now I only get a $50 bonus instead of $400.
My payroll provider didn't change during this time. It coded correctly the first time, before Instant Transfers were a thing for my account.
In the terms of the welcome offer, it says SoFi support can help out when direct deposits code incorrectly. I reached out a total of 3 times to their online chat and each time they refused to review the pay stubs I attached. All times, they pretend I didn't even get paychecks and was getting sent money from a friend.
I knew I was getting screwed even before my 25 day window closed, I reached out beforehand and just got delay tactics because the chat agents have no power to resolve anything.
I've entrusted the majority of my money to SoFi and it feels like they don't have my back. Customer support finds the fastest way to shut me down and doesn't even once believe this is a potential error on their part.
