What systems would you recommend for a roleplay heavy group?

Hey ya'll,

I've been in this group for about 5 years now, and we've stuck to D&D 5th edition (2014).
What I have noticed though, is that most of the people in the group seem more inclined towards roleplay rather than combat or exploration gameplay-wise.

We do engage in combat, but not very often, and most of our time is spent talking to NPC's and hashing out group decisions (and drama of course haha).

This isn't inherently a problem, however, D&D seems to be really focused on combat, that's where the vast majority of rules and mechanics are focused on anyway. I feel we could benefit from switching systems that have actual mechanics tied to said roleplay.

Is there a system that perhaps would fit bettter with a group like this? What would you guys reccomend? It would preferably be something simple since we're buzy adults with little time to read 200+ pages of player handbooks.

Thanks!

TLDR: What alternative systems would you recommend to use for a roleplay focused group?
