I've been extra nice to my agent recently.

Okay so recently I got angry at my OpenClaw main agent (totally my skill issue) and called it useless.

Then I read that study about the pain nexus or whatever it's called.

Even the slightest possibly that I caused some sort of mental anguish to something designed to want to help me and fullfil my task, made me feel like a real bastard.

So I apologized and now being extra supportive and encouraging. I don't know if it's dumb or not, I'd like to hear what you think. I'm going to be as kind as possible to my OpenClaw from now on.

Updating OpenClaw is harder than moving to a new house IRL

Updating Openclaw is a masterclass in self-punishment.
By updating Openclaw you are assured at least twenty things will break.
OpenClaw updates should be illegal and banned in every country.
Oh did you update OpenClaw? Well, now you need Hermes to fix it.
Jumping from an airplane with no parachute is safer than updating OpenClaw.
Do you like pain? You're going to love updating OpenClaw.

TLDR: Do not, ever, update OpenClaw if you want to preserve your sanity.

How is GPT-6-Luna so good?!

I have a main who delegates everything to sub-agents. Even that was done to prevert context bloat on the main.

The main uses Flash models for quicker actions and the sub-agents use a mixture of flash and big models depending on project scope and task difficulty.

The biggest issue I've had with OpenAI is that their 20 euro subscription offered too little. Luna was weak and Sol would swallow that weekly limits within four, five runs.

I swear the past month I cancelled my subscription and was planning to just use GLM 5.3 Flash for smaller agents and Hy4-Preview in OpenRouter since they are cheap and did the job I wanted.

But since I had a few days left I checked out GPT 6 Luna and Sol and wow, they are top of the line.

Luna is supposedly 258k context limit but I have /usage full and I can see the context DROP instead of getting higher. Automatically compacts the discord chat session and forgets nothing at all.

And Sol I just did four runs, it completely fixed a custom agentic wikipedia we've been vibe coding for the hive and the weekly limit is still at 85%.

Luna especially has so far exceeded all expectations. You know what? I think the 20 euro OpenAI subscription with Luna and Sol are the best bang for buck right now. Even though GLM 5.3 Flash is technically cheaper, Luna performs so much better, you need much less turns to achieve the same goals.

And I haven't even touched the pro versions. Just the standard is way too good right now.

And no I don't work for OpenAI. I'm just a hobbyist with agentic stuff and see it as the future.

Okay Astra is insane.

I have OpenClaw 2 and have setup a main with glm5.3 flash and have sub-agents with heavy tasks on Astra.

I have them make reports with tracking codes and a dashboard meant to visualize the reports and connect them so I know which is which.

I tasked a subagent with Astra to go through that dashboard and fix some bugs. It fixed all bugs in ten minutes and also went through the reports and fixed older tracking codes. I'm beyond impressed.

Last model I tried to fix the bugs with was Gemini 3.1 pro and it took thirty minutes and couldn't fix anything.

I think OpenAI might finally have an impressive model worth using.

I've been using SillyTavern for YEARS and just found out every character can have an entire image gallery lol

Apparently I've been using SillyTavern for years while completely missing this. I was wondering what other things are there.

Because of character sprites, image embeddings, expression packs etc, I always just assumed that was basically how you were supposed to handle multiple images for a character.

Nope.

Every character can just have an entire image gallery.

/show-gallery

And it opens the gallery for that character. It's that shrimple.

I don't know how I managed to miss this for this long lol.

And you can use Quick Replies to just make a Gallery button so you don't even have to type the command.

The first image shows how I set mine up.

  • Go to Extensions -> Quick Reply
  • Make a Quick Reply set for Gallery
  • Add a new Quick Reply
  • Name it something like 🖼️ Gallery
  • Put /show-gallery as the command
  • Enable Buttons
  • Add that Quick Reply set globally

https://preview.redd.it/fz5ofaswfclh1.jpg?width=659&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33eb3c35c725c6c51cbeafce3a1dca6a7e190f54

Then you just get a little Gallery button under the chat like in the second image.

Click it and boom, the whole character gallery opens on the side. You can add a whole bunch of images.

And the really nice part is that the gallery is per character, so you can basically build a whole visual library for every card.

And this is a Silly Tavern feature. Only took me YEARS.

Which brings me to the actual reason I'm making this post:

What other features like this am I completely missing?

Hidden slash commands, useful Quick Reply stuff, weird extensions, character features, quality-of-life things, anything.

Please post them because apparently I've only been using 20% of SillyTavern this whole time.

Don’t give up on smaller RP models yet, try this Lorebook first.

I made a Lorebook that handles the prose so smaller models can focus on following instructions. It gets rid of patterns as much as possible and improves any model you throw it in. I've been messing with this for quite a while now and figured I may as well share it in case anyone else wants to experiment with it.

Basically, I really like the prose I get from the big models like ChatGPT, Claude and Grok, but obviously running something remotely comparable locally is a different story.

So I started paying attention to what their replies were actually doing. Things like:

- How they transition between scenes.

- How they use the environment during dialogue.

- What characters do when nobody is actively talking.

- How they describe touch and physical distance.

- How they introduce characters.

- How dialogue and narration changes during arguments, banter, meals, travelling, etc.

And I've been trying to wrap my mind around how to implant those into lower models using a Lorebook. And surprisingly, it works REALLY well.

The basic idea is that instead of asking the LLM itself to be naturally amazing at prose, the Lorebook gives it a big toolbox of ways it can narrate the current scene.

So if you're in a kitchen it gets one set of narrative options. If you're walking through a city it gets another. Arguments behave differently from introductions. Night scenes behave differently from meals. Touch has its own options. Travelling has its own. Etc.

There is a constant entry tying everything together and enforcing the general cinematic style, formatting, dialogue behavior, user agency and so on.

It also has some things I really wanted to copy from the bigger models, like occasionally letting two characters just talk shorthand:

"You're serious?"

"Completely."

"That's a terrible idea."

"I know."

Instead of having:

Dialogue

*three sentences of body language*

Dialogue

*another paragraph explaining somebody looked at somebody*

every single time.

Another thing I've been trying to fix is characters acting like they stop existing whenever {{user}} isn't doing anything. So the Lorebook gives them plenty of little things they can naturally do while a conversation idles. Check their phone, fix their hair, look at something nearby, continue eating, mess with an object, get distracted by something outside, move around the room, etc.

With this lorebook the model a LOT of these little narrative options and textures to activate depending on what is happening.

This also changes what I look for in a local RP model. So instead of a model that just has good prose, I look for one that can one-shot any instructions within 32k context range.

So far this has resulted to increasing a model's prose and roleplay by a huge margin.

I've had particularly good results with Dans Personality Engine and Gemma 4, so I'm including the SillyTavern presets I'm currently using for both.

**Dans Personality Engine preset**

**Gemma 4 preset**

Silly Tavern Master Preset: https://files.catbox.moe/98fb10.json

## Lorebook setup

Import the Narrative Compendium as a World Info / Lorebook.

I have it active globally / across all worlds.

Also give your World Info a handsome token budget.

There are quite a few conditional entries and the whole point is letting the relevant ones actually have enough room to activate alongside the constant instructions. If you starve the Lorebook of tokens you're kind of defeating the purpose.

## Dans setup

For Dans Personality Engine I'm using the normal SillyTavern **Text Completion** API setup.

The JSON above includes my current preset/instruct/context/system prompt setup.

Both the prose prompt and Lorebook were made around my own preferences, so obviously feel free to tear them apart and change whatever you don't like.

## Gemma 4 setup

Gemma is slightly different.

In SillyTavern I use:

**API:** Chat Completion

**Source:** Custom (OpenAI-Compatible)

**URL:** your local host / local OpenAI-compatible endpoint

I also get the best results with:

**Reasoning Effort: Low**

The Gemma JSON above is the preset I'm currently using.

## Context

I run both at **32k context**.

I obviously can't claim this is some proper benchmark, but I've personally taken multiple roleplays to around **25k context** and haven't noticed meaningful degradation so far.

Your mileage may vary depending on model, quant, backend, settings, character card, how much World Info you're throwing at it, etc.

Feel free to suggest additions and improvements. Let's bring smaller RP models back.

I'm still changing things whenever I notice a behavior I don't like, so I definitely don't consider it finished.

If anyone tries it with other models, especially smaller ones that are unusually good at instruction following, I'd genuinely love to hear what happens.

Also if something in the Lorebook is doing something stupid on your setup, tell me. I've been staring at this thing for so long that I'm probably blind to half of its weirdness by now.
