Grades for getting into the Master's of Professional Psychology (not clinical)?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently finishing my Graduate Diploma of Psychology at CSU and will be moving into either Honours or the Postgraduate Diploma next year.

I’ve seen plenty of discussions about the grades needed for Clinical Psychology programs, but I’m more interested in hearing from people who were accepted into a Master of Professional Psychology (MPP/MOPP) program in Australia. (My heart isn't set on clinical, and I am being realistic.

What was your approximate GPA or WAM when you received an offer?

For context, I’m a social worker and currently work as a counsellor. I have around 14 years of experience in mental health and community services, so I’m not too concerned about the experience side of an application. My main concern is whether my grades will be competitive enough.

I’d be interested to hear about successful application experiences and which universities you applied to. Thanks!

Did any of you go on to study Psychology?

I’m currently completing the Graduate Diploma of Psychology at CSU (I also completed my Bachelor of Social Work through CSU), and was wondering whether anyone else found the transition a bit challenging, and what pathway you ended up taking afterwards.

I’ve found the move from social work to psychology interesting, but I do struggle at times with how structured and rigid psychology can feel compared to social work.

At this stage, I’m planning to continue either into Honours or the Postgraduate Diploma, and then (maybe) a Master’s program.

For those who have made a similar transition, what was your experience like? Is there anything you wish you’d known earlier, or any advice you’d give someone heading down this path?
