making a plan for acoustic treatment
Hey all! I've been a performer my whole life and wanting to take recording and mixing my own stuff more seriously. Up till now I'be just been setting up my QSC 8" to use as monitors. Hoping to share my plan and get feedback on if I'm on the right track or missing anything.
I have a couple of Kali Audio 8" monitors sitting in my shopping cart (about $1,000 total) but I know that acoustic treatment is on par or even more important. I'm in a garage that's been converted to a multi-use space, and this side is for my studio set-up. Here's my current plan: Cloud panels overhead, panels behind the speakers. Wondering how much I would need bass traps in the corners and panels/diffusers on the side walls since they are so far away and I'm not using subs. On the opposite wall from this picture is the electric garage door which I am thinking about hanging heavy curtains to dampen the echo. The room is 24' wide and 30' long. I am for sure on a budget so I'm planning on DIYing monitor stands by making some wood boxes and filling with sand, and making the panels myself. I was also going to buy the ARC studio system to correct for what I can't manage otherwise. Also the rectangle behind my desk is a monitor with a blanket over it, and I am planning on buying a larger carpet remanent for the floor to cover more area. What do you think? Is anything in this plan overkill or should I reallocate resources in any way?
