Travelling to Belfast from Dublin for a day using a rental car.

As the title suggests, I want to make a day trip to Belfast using a rental car. Do I need a visa to travel there? I'm only going to drop something off near Belfast city centre, and I'll be back the same day. It's an important trip, so I'd appreciate any advice.
