PayPal hacked and $2,500 gone from my BMO acount over the course of 6 months... What do I do?
I just logged into Paypal for the first time in a while. I noticed a bunch of $400 deposits over the past 6 months that were subsequently sent to a new bank account. It's clear my account was compromised, and since my BMO was connected, I've lost $2,500 from my bank account.
I was not monitoring my emails on the account tied to my PayPal, unfortunantely.
Do I have any hope here? I called BMO and they requested I file a report at a branch, so I'll do so. Do I have any hope of getting this back? My gut says it is unlikely based on my research. What should I do beyond contact BMO and take this bank account off and do 2FA on Paypal?
