Paid and Preserved Steam version with all DLC
So Caravaneer 2 is a game ive loved for years and occasionally start doing another play through every now and then.
Its graphics could at best be described as charming, the sprite work isnt really sprite work but rather 3d models put through heavy filtering in game and it evokes the original fallout game styles (nyx the talking head sadly).
Its base level game play is making it through vast stretches of desert and shifting goods from where their produced to where their needed. Alongside this maintaining the supplies and security from roaming bandits to make it there and back again while still making it a profitable or at least break even trip.
So fundamentally a game about capital. Not necessarily in support of capitalism. Money itself isn't really the solution to any of the obstacles faced through the story, entrenched robbers, slavery, religious conflicts, and even economic issues.
The initial region has an entrenched group of robbers and slavers that you need to get through in order to continue tracking down your fellow scout that left the bunker you hail from.
There are practically 4 routes to actually eliminating them, in order of practicality
Meeting with them and accepting to spy for them and eliminating the main source of resistance in the region, this is relatively simply and just involves about a few trips around to gather the money to purchase a small amount of supplies to win trust and then betraying it.
Conducting a bit of political setup to resolve old feuds between tribes as one group still resents the other for not standing with them, doing this they are able to unite and fight off these raiders.
Accepting to fight with the main group opposing them as another freedom fighter and slowly amassing war material and skill.
Finding and bringing the original founder of the religion that a powerful but isolationist group in the region believes in, As he was a humanitarian worker that introduced the concept of pacifism to prevent them from becoming a similar force to these raiders but had not been able to communicate the concept of humanism before he departed. This is perhaps one of the more difficulty routes involving multiple different journeys based on vague information gathered from speaking with different groups.
No matter your choice of method you do obtain your information and can journey onwards
Relatively consistently more capitalist methods involve simply gaining the slightest bit of trust with a group and then betraying it for your own interests, this continues until you are the one being taken advantage of an it ends in your entire bunker dying in a setup slaughter and you being left with nothing.
Or you can collaborate with the communities work to understand what they need and help fight back slavery and war mongering oligarchs and corrupt leaders.
also includes Donald Trump as a petty slaver being backed by Vladimir Putin ... in 2014. I wont go as far to say the dev (Dmitry Zheltobruikhov) is a socialist but as very least someone with a comprehension of capitalism, the function of markets as a concept, social materialism, and power. Their a decently well traveled ukranian who as far I know currently lives in sweden.
its a fun game as well as someone who enjoys spread sheet calculations and careful planning.
