Welcome to Mexico City! Whether you’re here for the opening match or just to soak up the atmosphere during the World Cup, this thread will be the central hub for logistics, safety, local tips, and questions you might have about the city before and during the World Cup.
All matches at the "Estadio Azteca" (I’ll be dead before I call it Banorte) have been confirmed. They recently confirmed that the doors will be opening 3 hours before kick off so please take this into account as security will be tight and traffic will be legendary even though the government is trying really hard to get as many brown people off the streets as to not to disturb the tourists visiting.
🏘️ WHERE TO STAY
In case you haven’t booked your stay yet here are the most generic options, can’t really go wrong with them:
🚇 MOVING AROUND THE CITY
Don't rent a car. Mexico City traffic is difficult on a normal Tuesday; during the World Cup, it will be a fucking nightmare.
Note on Alcohol: Alcohol sales are generally prohibited inside official Fan Zones * wink wink * so plan accordingly

📱 GROUP CHATS & MEETING PEOPLE
In Mexico, WhatsApp is the king of communication. If you aren't on it, you’ll miss half the event. Restaurants use it for reservations, locals use it for business, and fans use it to organize meetups.
