Free tool for researching your next suppressor purchase

Free tool for researching your next suppressor purchase

In light of the ATF's announcement yesterday, I wanted to remind everyone about a free resource for researching your next suppressor or accessory purchase.

I built a site called Baffled (www.baffled.app) that lets you filter suppressors by spec. For example, you can pull up every 5.56 can under $600 that's full auto rated, HUB compatible and shorter than 7". You can sort by various features like price, size, etc. I was surprised how many suppressors there were out there that were under $300

It also helps you figure out which mounts, muzzle devices, and other accessories are compatible with the suppressor you're looking at, and compare various suppressor builds. Cans reviewed by Pew Science are linked to the respective PS page and I have a section on there that covers the results of Thunderbeast Arms Co's annual suppressor testing event, the TBAC Silencer Summit

It's free and you don't need to sign up to use it.

I built a suppressor research and compatibility tool

I got tired of researching suppressors across manufacturer pages, manuals, compatibility charts, retailer inventories, and scattered third-party sources, so I built Baffled:

https://baffled.app/

It’s a free research and comparison tool with no account or signup required. You can open it and start researching immediately

A few things you can do with it:

• Filter suppressors by caliber, weight, length, diameter, material, mounting standard, firing schedule, barrel restrictions, and other specifications.

• Select a suppressor in the Builder and find compatible mounts, muzzle devices, pistons, adapters, front caps, and related components.

• Compare complete configurations side by side instead of looking at a suppressor in isolation.

• See source-linked summaries of manufacturer claims, Pew Science testing where applicable, videos, reviews, and other research. This part is still being expanded.

The database includes suppressors and accessories from manufacturers beyond what any individual retailer happens to carry. It’s the most comprehensive public facing collection of this information that I’ve been able to find.

For example, you could use it to find every .30 cal suppressor below a particular weight, diameter and price, compare the results, and then see what components would be needed to mount each one on a specific host.

I’m especially interested in reports of:

  • Incorrect or outdated specifications
  • Compatibility results that look wrong
  • Confusing filters or terminology
  • Research workflows the site does not currently support
  • Features you would eventually like to see

I’m continuing to add products, sources, and compatibility data, so the catalog will keep growing.

Feel free to use it without leaving feedback. My main priority is building something the community finds genuinely useful.
