New Amsterdam (No not that one) 2008

Homicide detective gifted/cursed with immortality until he meets the love of his life. First episode he has a heart event indicating that maybe he crossed paths with her. It was good, my grandma and I watched every episode and it was interesting with a unique premise and good episode by episode arcs as well as an overarching mystery.

American Girl Dolls-Still worth it?

Hello! I never had American Girls growing up but one of my sisters and my best friend did and they absolutely loved them. They were very exclusive and special to have it seemed, there wasn’t anything like them really. I was always more into animals so I just had a ton of weird and hard to find plushies basically 😂 My daughter is way more of a doll kid than I ever was and she is obsessed with all her baby dolls. She has a few vinyl and silicone reborn dolls but I’m always on the look out for other types of dolls she’d like. I am considering taking her and my niece to the AG store but I feel like there’s so many knock offs and comparable dolls now. Are AGs still worth it? Are they truly so much better than the store brand ones from Target and Walmart? Thank you!

Torn between two very different jobs

Not sure if anyone here read my post about how much trouble my small clinic is in but the follow up is basically that we’re in a lot of trouble and have been encouraged to see what else is out there ASAP. Fortunately, I have both experience and a specialized NP degree in my field and was able to get interviews pretty quickly. No guarantee on job offers right now but the interviews I’ve had so far went really good. I have my last in persons this week and next. My problem is is that both these actual positions within my specialty are wildly different. Pay and benefits are similar but one is 3 days a week in clinic at a prestigious and highly specialized clinic with a 45 min commute both ways. I don’t mind a commute (have done between 35-1.5 hour one way commutes for my whole career, I live in the middle of nowwhere but surrounded by several large cities) and this position would be intellectually stimulating and interesting. The other position is 4 days a week and completely remote. It’s basically education for patients all day every day with very little differences in types of apts and patients. I’ve never WFH before and I’m a little worried I’m going to go crazy. Anyone ever switched from all in clinic to completely telehealth and liked it?

State of small private practice clinics

Hello! Not going to add a ton of location details to stay a little anonymous but I work in a small (less than 15 staff) private practice clinic within my specialty. I work in a relatively large city with a diverse population from teenagers to 80s for clinic population. We are one of a handful of small private practices within our specialty in our city and then there’s two large hospital affiliates. Lately we are STRUGGLING. Paying patients aren’t coming in, medicaid isn’t paying out, general patient populations are down, etc. I’m the newest provider at the clinic and I worry I and likely multiple staff members will have to seek other employment soon. This sucks because I truly love my job and my clinic and it’s genuinely a joy to wake up and go to work. I love 99% of my job and I’m truly lucky to be where I am. My questions here are

  1. Any other clinics in this situation or have been and it‘s gotten better or worse?

  2. Has anyone gone from a close knit, very chill and small private practice where it feels like staff and patients are basically out of a delightful sitcom and then you had to go into a huge hospital affiliate ? How was that transition? Advice?

  3. If our clinic closes or reduces staff, would a high recommendation from our MD even be worth anything in a city where everyone knows everyone basically?

Thanks! Sorry for the long post?

Not sure if this idea has been pitched already but my husband and I were talking about potential plot ideas and I think a community theatre production would be absolutely hilarious. Unsure of what the central conflict would be but the potential characters you could get from that (who could also be strangers for the most part would be so funny. You could even have another actual celebrity guest star if you wanted. For the central issue I guess you could maybe have that the theater is going to get knocked down or defunded or that the director was secretly bad in some way.
