Went to Onelife for 3 years…I would not recommend if you care about the coaches

As the title says, I’ve been going to Onelife San Juan for 3 years (since July 2023). I initially loved it at first - my coach for 2 years was very attentive, clearly very knowledgeable about pilates, physical therapy, etc and always adjusted my program to my current workouts, pain for the day (I have some chronic conditions), and any requests I have.

And at first it was great! I had chronic back pain for more than 10 years and that went away with more sessions. I finally got a stronger core (can actually do a situp?), and just generally feel fitter and stronger, allowing me to do more activities I could not before.

But after my coach left last year, everything went downhill at my branch as scheduling got difficult and the quality of service went down. This year, more than 5 coaches left my branch despite being so booked and busy the year prior. After some prying I found out that management has been horrible to them - forcing them to work Sundays with no pay, withholding promotions or denying them promotions for no good reason (despite them asking for metrics they could measure so they could determine if they could get promoted or not), and not giving them any pilates certifications that are transferrable if ever they do decide to leave. I have also been told of unfair dismissals from other coaches, which I encouraged to report to DOLE.

It’s sad because I think the coaches at Onelife, particularly in San Juan, are the heart of the business. They are all clearly knowledgeable and they really do their own research to make a pilates session curated for their clients. It is also their first branch so I thought service would be best here, but coaches have mentioned to me that they felt left behind because the business was so hyperfixated on the shiny new branches. My theory is that they expanded too quickly (Alabang, Shang, etc in a short period of time) without training enough coaches.

So I’m just letting my credits run out this July and I can’t say I recommend them as much as I used to. Just wanted people on here to know not to support a business that clearly doesn’t care about their employees.
