New vid 73% retention at 30 secs and 40% for whole vid - why has it died?

I posted a video in the travel niche which I think is reasonably good. As above it has decent retention and CTR for most of my vids are between 2.5 - 5% with a few above. Is this just how YT is now? You get 24 hours and if it doesn't immediately catch on the killswitch is pressed by the algo? I know 'make better videos' or whatever someone will say, but I am led to believe the algo with generally push vids with retention of 35-50% retention for at least a couple of days?

What are your favourite multi-day hikes you have done in the UK?

I liked the South Downs Way and Coast to Coast particularly, also camping a route around the Dragon's Back in Wales.

Crib Goch Hike (Yr Wyddfa's Knife Edge) - Great due to beautiful conditions

I hiked Crib Goch, which turned out to be amazing due to the sunny and low wind conditions. I was expecting the knife edge section to be really scary, and I assume it can be in the wrong conditions but what we got was just the amazing views! The scramble at the start felt more difficult than the rest.

No-one subscribes, no one comments on my videos.

Hi, I have a travel and hiking channel 450 subs, I have a fair few vids that have got 20k, 8k, 6k views so not terrible views, although the other videos get like 100-200 views. People rarely seem to subscribe or leave comments. The ones I have got a few are the usual people criticizing what you have said or done (like all social media and internet commenting nowadays). Does this just mean people come for what they want to see then leave, rather than being a 'personality' channel, where people subscribe because they want to join the person mainly for themselves? What is your experience? I know the algo seems to be harsher if you dont get good CTR in the first few days, but my growth seems so slow, so just trying to rationalize it.
