i stopped chasing viral and focused on a boring channel, results went up

for a year i chased virality, trying to engineer the shareable moment, the loop, the thing that spreads on its own. i got the occasional spike and zero durable growth. spikes feel great and retain nobody.

i gave up and focused on one boring predictable channel, showing up consistently in a niche community and being genuinely helpful. slow, unsexy, and it compounded into steadier growth than any viral attempt.

viral is a lottery ticket. consistent presence in the right place is a savings account. i wasted a lot of energy buying lottery tickets before i respected the savings account.

has anyone actually engineered durable virality, or is the boring consistent channel the real answer for most of us?

can an ai presentation tool actually match a deck you built slide by slide in google slides?

i have been curious whether an ai presentation tool can get you close to a deck you would build by hand, so i ran a small test on an internal update. the generated draft was genuinely fast and the structure was a decent starting point, but when i put it next to the version i built slide by slide in google slides, mine still won on the parts that matter, the order of the story, what got cut, the spacing that makes a slide breathe. it saved me time on the rough skeleton, no question, but the judgment calls were all still me. for those of you who have tried an ai presentation tool, does it hold up for anything you actually present, or only for quick first drafts?

what do you actually use claude for day to day, beyond the obvious stuff

the big use cases like writing and coding get all the attention, but im more curious about the quiet everyday ways people fit it into life.

for me its become my thinking partner for small decisions. i talk through a tricky email, a plan for the weekend, a hard conversation im dreading. not because i cant decide, but because articulating it out loud clarifies my own head.

the mundane uses ended up being the stickiest for me, way more than the flashy ones.

whats your unglamorous daily use that you dont see people talk about much? always looking to steal good habits.

the referral that worked was about status, not the reward we offered

we ran the textbook referral incentive, both sides get a discount, and it barely moved. a small reward isn't why people put their name on a recommendation.

what actually drove referrals was making the product something people gained status by being early to, sharing it made them look sharp and in-the-know to their peers. once recommending us made the referrer look good, they did it without any reward at all.

people refer for reputation far more than for a coupon.

for growth people: has building in a status reason to share ever beaten a straight incentive for you?
