Myth units begin to loop death animation

I noticed a bug while playing with Demeter: some units suddenly get stuck looping their death animation. Moving them seems to stop the animation, but the issue keeps happening repeatedly during the same skirmish.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Aztec Shrine Orientation Seems to Be Incorrect

Since the release of the new Aztec shrines, I had been wanting to see them in-game, and today I finally did. They look really nice and unique, but their orientation seems to be off.

As shown in the image, the shrine does not appear to match the direction of the statues beside it or the relic/platform in the center. It feels like the shrine model is rotated incorrectly compared to the rest of the structure.

I don’t know why the Aztecs in particular have had so many orientation-related issues. They are not the only civ with this kind of problem, of course, but I hope the devs can fix this in a future patch.

Thorned Walls tech should have a visual effect and access on Fortresses and Towers

Ever since the patch where this technology was updated to apply to Fortresses and Towers, I’ve been expecting both the corresponding visual root texture to be added to those buildings and proper access to the technology from their command panels.

From a tactical perspective, the visual root texture would also help indicate to the enemy that attacking those Fortresses or Towers carries a higher risk due to the reflected damage. Also, adding the tech icon/access directly to Fortresses and Towers would prevent players from having to build walls just to research this technology when they don’t want or need them.

We need AoM Retold behind-the-scenes documentaries

I would honestly love to see some official behind-the-scenes videos or mini documentaries about how the Age of Mythology: Retold civilizations were made.

Not only the new ones like the Chinese, Japanese, and Aztecs, but also the older civs. For example, how did the team decide which new gods to add, like Freyr or Demeter? What sources did they use? How did they approach mythology, historical references, unit design, god powers, voice acting, campaign writing, music, art direction, and all those details we only see once the final product is released?

I know that for very old civilizations and myths, sometimes there may not be a lot of clear information available, so I think it would be really interesting to see how the developers handled that: what they kept faithful, what they had to adapt, and how they balanced myth, history, gameplay, and the identity of each civilization.

You can really tell there is a lot of work behind what we see in-game, and I would love to see more of that process from an official source. Maybe AoM is not as popular as the other Age games, so this kind of content is less likely, but I think many of us would really enjoy it.

A documentary covering all the new civilizations would be great, but honestly, individual videos for each civilization would be even better.

Aztec temples can't be repair!

I remember this feature used to work properly, but I’m not sure which later patch changed it. Right now, Aztec temples can’t be repaired.

When I use the repair option, the villager just walks into the temple to be sacrificed instead of repairing it. I’ve tried both left-click and right-click, but neither works.

I hope the devs re-add this feature in a future patch.

Tonalli can't be recollected by any aztec ship

I think I read somewhere that some Aztec ships can collect Tonalli from water, but I’ve tried every ship type, even fishing ships, and it doesn’t seem to work. Is there a specific tech I need to research first?

Edit:

I found the patch note I was talking about.

In Age of Mythology: Retold Update 19.14612, the notes say:

“Tonalli can now be collected on water by the Arrow Canoe, Atlatl Siege Canoe, and Tepoztli Canoe.”

So, according to the official patch notes, Aztec military ships should be able to collect Tonalli from water. However, I’ve tested it in the current version and it doesn’t seem to work anymore, at least not on my end.

If anyone else can confirm this, it might be a bug or a regression from a later patch.

Aztec Farms with Chinampa Tech Don’t Fit Properly on Uneven Terrain

When the terrain is uneven, the Aztec farm models with the Chinampa technology enabled have some issues properly fitting into the ground. This causes the farm pieces to look slightly misaligned, floating, sunken, or visually disconnected from the terrain depending on the slope.

And before someone blames the mods I’m using because of the white houses or the corn-based farm visuals: nope, that is not the issue. I have seen this terrain-fitting problem since the Aztecs were released, and it can be checked without those visual mods as well.

The mods shown in the image were made by excellent modders who have given us a much more culturally accurate and visually fitting representation of the Aztecs. They improve the look and characterization of the civilization, but they are not the source of this specific farm-placement issue.

Why Is the Aztec Temple Statue Foundation in the Middle During Construction?

The Aztecs have a different temple construction stage for some strange reason, even though the other civilizations use the correct version, which could easily be applied to the Aztecs as well. The god statue is placed in exactly the same position as in the other civs' temples, so why does the Aztec temple show the statue's foundation in the middle during construction?"

Goshinboku tree doesn't resurrect any Demeter myth units

The Goshinboku tree was updated so it can now resurrect all Aztec myth units, which is great. However, Demeter’s myth units are still not resurrected by it.

These units still don’t come back to battle:

Lycaon
Hamadryad
Siren
Harpy

Hopefully the devs can fix or include them in a future patch.

Aztec house orientation is wrong: preview vs actual build

For the Aztecs, several house models have an orientation issue. The preview shows the house facing one direction before placement, but once built, it ends up facing a different direction. Not all house models are affected, but many of them are.

Devs, please fix this. Personally, I like to build my houses facing the Town Center, but with the game in its current state, that's often impossible because the final orientation doesn't match the preview.

I know there are more important issues to address, but this is something that should have worked correctly from day one. I haven't noticed this problem with the houses of any other civilization.

Suggeting mod for golden statues until wonder age

I really like how the golden statues from the dlc look but, having this feature activated sinde archaich age is kind of odd to me. I would like to request a mod that changes to the golden texture when the wonder age in reached, this way the golden statues will show better the age status and have more sense imo.

Tlaloc GP should be able to be used on water!!!

I would love to use the Tlaloc GP in the sea because… come on, it’s Tlaloc! It would look amazing seeing the statue half submerged in the water while attacking ships. Devs, please hear my plea!

Goshinboku trees from Japanese don't work for Aztecs!!

I was playing Aztecs vs. Japanese and noticed that when capturing the Resurrection Tree this doesn’t work for any Aztec MU. I hope the devs fix this bug in a future patch.

House build issue is still present with Aztecs

As a recommendation, do not use a mouse with a very fast scroll wheel, such as the MX master 3S, to rotate buildings. It can cause all units that build houses to get stuck while trying to construct them. This issue has been present in the game for more than a year, and I have reported it multiple times, but it still has not been fixed.

At release, when Demeter was popular, I noticed her HUD icons in replays were missing in analyses from YouTubers. Now with the Aztec civ release, her icons are still missing, while the Aztec gods already have theirs implemented. So I’m wondering, why is Demeter still pending?

These obsidian shards should have an opening or cracking animation when they are destroyed. They also need a clearer mechanic, because I don’t really understand how they open or release the MU inside. Sometimes they stay inactive for a long time and nothing happens, and then suddenly they activate very quickly. It almost feels like they only open when enemies are nearby.

Besides the incorrect foundations in many buildings, such as temples, there is also an issue with house orientation: it differs from what is shown before placement, and once the house is constructed, the orientation ends up being different. I really hope the developers fix this in a future patch, because I like to build organic and beautiful cities beforehand in my skirmishes.
