I bought this book by Mixerman. In that he says, a good mix is when you make the listener sing along with it. How do you do that? Most of the vocalists I work with are garbage. How do you make them sound amazing? Help me with tuning and mixing tricks that'd help other people sing along. How to make vocals talk with the mix?

Okay so yeah, "recording in the process of mixing" might have raised some brows or caught some people off guard. But sometimes when the artist is happy with their recording after the vocal tuning and when you give the first mix draft, they want to record some parts again.

I have a decent avalon 737sp vt preamp which I use to record all the vocals (very subtle saturation, nothing overboard).

So, when the artist plans to visit and record those certain parts again, how do you merge those takes with the previous takes like if there is a line like, "I'm an artist but I suck in front of the mic". The line "I'm an artist but" is good but he wants to change "I suck in front of the mic".

So how do we make it sound cohesive with the previous takes?

Maintain the same timbre?

If the artist sings in the same timbre and room. I hope it makes sense. Thank you.

I've been trying to motivate myself by reading some books related to music (the music lesson, the war of art, zen and the art of mixing(midway through)). Read Sound Reinforcement a decade ago, which is an amazing book, but it's a lot of technicalities and has no story (although I keep going back to it every year). Gotta keep the flame burning! So, suggest some books that motivate and teach you about Recording, Production, and Mixing.

I'm planning to buy this unit. Has anyone used it before? Sounds really good in videos, has a valve tube but at the same time I dug deeper into the reviews and all the bad things. One of the things that really caught my attention was - there's a led light right under the tube to make it look like it's lit. I use avalon 737sp vt in my studio. That's a vacuum tube, it needs some time to light for the best recording texture or just to work fully. I just want to know if the Blackstar HT Dual pedal is for real? Or it's just a marketing stunt they've been pulling under our noses?
