Santorini back to ship at night

We are on Infinity in August, and have rented a villa for the day, in Oia. I'd *love* some advice.

  • We are in Santorini from 7am to 10pm. We *plan* to be off the ship as soon as possible. Does anyone know the tender schedule or is it posted online? I recognize Greece is busy and most ports are small businesses and don't have time to maintain websites.
  • We are the only ship in town 9 August. A smaller luxury ship is coming in around 4pmish.
  • We don't have Priority Access; wondering if that really helps with tendering? (we are in Aqua Class, and am not entirely sure PA is worth the cost.) We do not have excursions booked, just going to villa, spending day and going back (I have to work for the day, husband and adult children will wander off)
  • We now have Priority Access.
  • Does anyone have experience where Celebrity will tender Guests without excursions? I've seen it be both Old Port (Fira) and Athinios. Trying to organize transfers and don't know where to request pickup or take the bus.
  • Does anyone have experience booking transfers from Athens up to Oia and can recommend someone?
  • We'd love to stay as long as possible; our ship is scheduled to be in port until 10:15. Sunset is 8:25PM, so in a perfect world would love to stay that long, then head back around 9pm. Too dangerous?
  • If we do NOT have an excursion, will Celebrity be running tenders from Athinios that late for independent Guests or are we better off going back to Fira?

Thank you kindly - have spent days searching for information to best answer these questions on CC until my son suggested Reddit and didn't realize I would have been better off coming here first.

Ef charisto!

Yet Another First Trip post...

TLDR: Please help us get from LHR to Anfield next weekend.

Storytime: Married a life-long Liverpool fan from Texas. We're north of Boston now, it was the closest to Anfield he could get in the US. Plus, there's a bloody lot of LFC fans in the area, so it feels like home on match days. I have been promising myself I'd get him to a match IN Anfield before we die, and well, none of us are getting any younger, are we? Let's just say it's taken years to win the lottery, score tickets, etc.

Flash forward, got tickets for the match on the 24th and we surprised him on Christmas morning. Then Mo went up and announced that's his last game, and I am close to being canonized with the timing. Only...

I bought flights into Heathrow (Terminal 5 if you're still with me), thinking we could easily train up (and save a thousand in doing so...) only... the trains are making my brain break and look to be almost as expensive as if we'd flown into Manchester. (those LHR to MAN tickets are now up to 1400£)

So reaching out to everyone for advice. Coming in Thursday morning, landing at LHR at 7am. Return trip on Monday is at 2:30PM so need to be back in plenty of time for the flight. Kind of hyperventilating here because I really do feel like I'm walking alone trying to figure this out... O.o

  • Should we train from LHR up to Lime station (two stops - Paddington / Euston?) or is it better to taxi over to Euston?
  • How much time should we allow on the 25th to get back to LHR?
  • How is the strike scheduled next week, going to affect us?
  • If there is a strike, is it contained to London or is it the entire rail system?
  • Is there anything else we should know?
  • When can I start drinking?
  • Can I tell you how much I adore you for reading this far?

Thank you for any advice.

Signed,

A Redswife

(not signing my real name b/c he's subbed here too so don't tell him... shhhh)

(side note, hear the hotel has a greek food truck near it so I'm going to be one happy woman.)
