A few of you asked for my radio dashboard yesterday. It's free on GitHub now, with two themes. A or B?
Follow-up to yesterday's post. A few of you asked for the files and how I did it, so it's on GitHub now, free and open source (MIT):
https://github.com/vcazan/fpvdash
Same deal as last time: Claude wrote all the code.
A: Glass Cockpit. Avionics style, near-black, colour only where it means something.
B: Hi-Vis. For bright sun. Fluorescent yellow, giant numbers, hazard stripes when armed, and the whole screen turns red-orange on failsafe or link loss.
The look from yesterday's photo is still in there as a third theme.
A couple of you said you can't read the screen with goggles on, which is fair. Most of it is for before and after the flight:
- Before: the switch strip shows what each switch does (ARMED, ACRO, BEEP OFF), not where it sits, so you can check everything before plugging in. It also tells you CAN'T ARM, or NO RESCUE when there aren't enough sats for a GPS Rescue home yet.
- After: find my quad. It saves the last GPS position when the link drops, and you scan a QR code on the radio to open that spot in your phone's maps. Plus a flight summary and a logbook per quad.
- During: optional voice callouts for GPS ready, no home point, distance every 100 m and how much of the pack you've used.
How I did it, since that was the main question:
- Plug the radio in as USB Storage so Claude can read and write the SD card directly (I use it in Cursor).
- Tell it your radio, EdgeTX version and what you fly, then describe what you want on the screen.
- Reboot when it tells you to, and send it a photo or screenshot of whatever looks wrong.
- For the themes I made mockups of every screen and had it match them. It also wrote a simulator that renders the screens on the computer, which is how I made the A/B image (the screens are composited onto RadioMaster's product photo).
It runs on EdgeTX 2.11+ colour radios with Betaflight on ELRS or Crossfire. Designed on the TX16S MK3 and scales down to 480x272 screens like the MKII. I haven't tried a TX15, but u/no_nymous built one for theirs after yesterday's post: https://github.com/luebbers/quaddash
So, A or B? And what should it show that it doesn't?
