Just started a mail club and figuring out whether to sign the letter or one of the prints

Hi, September is my first month for my mail club! I’m so excited for the back-end work to be done. It took me almost 3 weeks to paint and another week to trial and error the printing side but seeing a letter wrapped up makes it sooo worth while! Now, it seems like the hard part is waiting for subscribers 😅 it feels like I’m posting to the void on IG.

Anyways, I’m re-thinking whether to sign the letter or the prints instead. I see most mail clubs sign the letter though, it feels redundant when I close the letter with my name on it. As a watercolor artist, I’m used to signing my painting. The question is, the Print Deluxe Tier receives both the 5x7 art print and the postcard, do I sign both? But then, that’s gonna be a lot of signing in the future 😅

As a mail club subscriber, which one would you prefer to be signed?

If you have a mail club, do you sign yours and which one?

Cutoff date

Hi! I’m planning to start a mail club and deciding my work flow schedule. I was thinking of having cutoff date the end of the month to receive the next month’s letter. For example, sign up from July 1-31st for August’s letter that will be sent out the first week of August. But then, I’m wondering if it makes sense to advertise August’s letter in July.

I feel like it’s more intuitive to advertise August’s letter in August however, if the cut off date is end of August, subscribers will be receiving August’s letter in September which also feels like its “late”.

If you’re the one receiving the mail, which would you prefer?

Batch-created a food series

I recently painted a banana foster pancake on my sketchbook and I really enjoyed painting the sauce and got inspired to do a food series 😊 I’ve just been painting individual ACEO before but this time around, I batch-created 8 at once. It was def a process! I learned that 8 was a bit too much for me and will keep it to 4 or 6 next time 😂

Watercolor paper wrong grain direction

I bought a 9x12 watercolor paper pad thinking that it will be long grain since 12inch is the second number but when I tested it, it’s actually short grain…. So now, I’ll have to make a landscape sketchbook that’s 4.5 inch tall by 6 inch wide. I wanted it to be 6 inch tall 😅 I’m a bit bummed… but I really like this paper so I guess I’ll just have to try it out

For those that makes their own watercolor sketchbook, do you prefer landscape or portrait?

Northern Lights ACEO

These were fun to make! Inspired by the photos I took when the northern lights showed up in NY two years ago. Instead of trees like in my photo, I added mountains and interestingly enough, the part where I put the tape kinda looks like water.

I listed them on ebay 😊 https://www.ebay.com/usr/ishapintura

I tried making watercolor sketchbook

Hi!!! I tried binding my own sketchbook and wowww! Its such a long process, just cutting paper took me 2 hours 😅

For the blue one, I did a coptic stitch and the uncovered one I used both coptic and french linking stitch. I def need more practice since my stitches aren’t as pretty. That’s why I covered the first sketchbook.

Is there another stitch that lays flat but you don’t see much thread in the inside? Like for the coptic stitch, I’m not a fan of a long line of stitches on the page.

Also, I just got a book binding kit and it came with the thread but I don’t know what thickness it is. I do want a slightly thinner thread if possible, what size would I search when buying next?

Also, gluing the book cover is such a messy process 😅 I wonder if using a double sided tape for fabric would work for next time?

Thanks! And any tips are appreciated. I actually enjoyed the stitching process 😊

They did take me a while to make but I learned with each painting and it was fun!

The 5 birds are now up for 5 days and I’ll list the mountain and matcha next week 🙏

Feel free to share which of the birds you like the best 😊
