How hard is it to make friends with Italians as an international student?

Ciao a tutti!! in 4 months I’m going to university in Italy, either at Università di Siena or Università Politecnica delle Marche.

One of the things that worries me the most is how I’m going to make friends with Italians 😭 I currently speak Italian at around an A1 level, but I’m planning to improve a lot during these next 4 months. I also speak Spanish (native) and English (C1).

I’ve heard some people say Italians prefer speaking Spanish rather than English with international students, but I’m not sure if that’s actually true 😭

If anyone has experience with this or has any tips, I’d really appreciate it 💗

How hard is it to make friends in Italy as an international student??

Ciao a tutti!! in 4 months I’m going to university in Italy either to università di Siena or Università politecnica delle Marche.

One of the things that most worries me is how I’m gonna make friends with Italians 😭 I do know Italian at an A1 level but I’m gonna polish it in these 4 months. I also know Spanish (native) and English (C1). I’ve heard Italians prefer that you speak in Spanish instead of English??? Idk how true that is.

If any of you guys has had any experience or would like to share some tips I would really appreciate it 💗💗

CIMEA or Declaration of Value?

Ciao tutti! I need help deciding between CIMEA and Declaration of Value, since the uni I’m applying to accepts both.

In my country, I can’t get the Declaration of Value directly because there’s no Italian embassy, so I would need to travel to another country to do it. The trip would cost me around €355.

From what I understand, CIMEA costs around the same, so I’m not sure which option is easier or faster.

Has anyone gone through this process as an international student? Which one would you recommend? Help a girl out pls 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Opinions on univpm??

So I already got accepted and I would attend there if the rest of the unis I applied to don’t accept me or I end up waitlisted. I’m kinda skeptical to attending there because I’ve heard negative comments about univpm. Are any of you guys planning to attend there?? Or any current/past student who can tell me how it’s like being a student there??

Also if yall think thats a good enough option or if I should look for other options (like public unis in Spain since I also speak Spanish) ??

Hey guys I need advice/opinions regarding studying uni in Italy 🇮🇹

So I’m a non-EU student applying for bachelor’s programs at Unito(waiting on response), Ca’ Foscari (currently waitlisted), Unisi(waiting on response), and UnivPM (already accepted).

My SAT score is pretty low (1180), but my GPA is 96/100. At Ca’ Foscari I’m currently #84 on the ranking list 💀💀 and there are only 60 seats, so I’m not very optimistic about Unito either since my program only has 50 non-EU spots.

I already got accepted to UnivPM (Ancona), but I’ve heard a lot of negative things about both the university and the city. People say Ancona is very small/conservative and that it can be hard for international students. I do speak bad Italian at around A2 level, but that’s not really my main concern.

If I get rejected from my other options, do you think UnivPM is still worth it? Or would it make more sense to look into public universities in Spain (since I also speak Spanish) or another European country instead?

My budget is also limited (around €9–10k per year) including tuition and housing and in Italy I’d apply for DSU scholarships and I haven’t heard of something like that in other EU countries.

I’d really appreciate any opinions or experiences 💗💗
