I'm post endgame but haven't finished a lot of quests and can't find anything about it online. I'm just curious. Is it just a landmark or does it have some use later?
Does anyone have any recommendations on Fantasy/Dark Fantasy and/or SciFi without a single whiff of Romantasy or current politics that have been written within the last couple decades? Preferably without the 'this was obviously edited by AI with horrible grammar, repetitive word usage, and spelling mistakes' vibe.
Sex and romance as a subplot are fine. By current politics I just mean anything that mirrors or is an allegory for current times in the real world. I want an escape to another world. Broad political topics are fine (ex. War, environmentalism, slavery, etc.)
Gender or age of the protagonist are not important to me.
Horror elements are welcome. No Stephen King or T. Kingfisher please.
Books I've liked (not necessarily fitting this description but similar) are:
- Game of Thrones
- Lord of Mysteries (Web Novel)
- The Stormlight Archives
- The Witcher
- The Dark Tower (I know this is Stephen King - I don't enjoy his more recent library)
- LOTR
- Dune
- Odd Thomas
- Overlord (Light Novel)
- Goblin Slayer (Light Novel)
- Solo Leveling (Light Novel)
- anything by Jeff Vandermeer (ex. Southern Reach Trilogy)
- American Gods by Neil Gaimon
- anything by Grady Hendrix (ex. How to Sell a Haunted House)
