Nursing a neglected geyri

06/26 Unfortunate update: This afternoon, my little buddy passed away. I checked on him at about noon before a meeting and he was fairly active, and when my meeting ended at 1:30 he was gone. I am super bummed, but I really appreciate the kind words and suggestions I received on this thread 🫶🏻

Hello! I adopted a juvenile geyri a couple of weeks ago, and quickly realized my little guy isn't in the greatest shape. He has refused almost all food, falls asleep in his food dish for hours at a time, wanders away from the hot side of his tank and won't bask at all, and is just overall so lethargic. He does poop/urate a very small amount almost every day, and last weekend, he drank water from a tiny dish that I tried serving cooked lentils in (he did not eat, however) - which was when alarm bells really went off. I started critical care this past weekend, and he's taken maybe a lick or two of that each day.

Imaging at the vet yesterday looked good, and fungal infection was ruled out. As suspected, they confirmed he is quite dehydrated and malnourished. We assume he was very poorly cared for prior to my taking him in. Per the vet, I've increased his tank temp on the "cool" side to 95-100 and we are hoping the exposure to higher temps through the whole tank will help reignite an appetite. I am hoping to get a stool sample soon to bring to the back for a parasite check as well.

I am looking for any and all hydration and feeding advice. I have tried nearly everything for food: greens, lentils (cooked and sprouted), flowers, veggies, even fruits, and yesterday, I offered a small dubia just to see if he showed ANY interest. Nothing at all has piqued his interest. I have bee pollen on the way to try as a topper, and I've also been looking into the Arids Only brand. I know soaking is pretty heavily debated for uros, so I'm hoping this subreddit can offer some personal and professional advice on that as well.

Photos of my sweet little guy over the last couple of weeks. have noticed his color has brightened a bit, but his weight has fluctuated between 34-48g.

Thank you for any and all comments!
