Social Media & Brand Discovery: An Indian Consumer Study

I'm a recent marketing graduate working on personal research into Indian consumer behaviour trying to understand how people discover and connect with brands in 2026. Would love your honest responses :)

Repeat Attempt vs Job (Need advice)

Hi everyone,

I gave CAT 2025 and I'm considering taking CAT again this year. I've already started studying a bit.

I graduated in May 2026. My profile is 7/8/7, and I have around 5 months of work experience that I completed before graduation.

My main target is MICA because I want to build a career in marketing. However, my brother keeps telling me that instead of focusing on CAT right now, I should first get a job or internship and gain some experience.

I'm honestly quite confused. Part of me feels I should give CAT while the syllabus is still fresh, but another part of me wonders if getting experience first would help my profile and future opportunities.

For those who have been in a similar situation, what would you recommend? Should I focus on CAT and MICA admissions this year, or spend some time working before attempting again?

Thanks in advance.
