“Funny” mail things that only could happen in a small town 😂

My town is population 1600, we have one post office (I love my post office ladies. 🩷) Unfortunately they are currently out of postcard stamps (apparently they get like a “ration” depending on sales volume and rations are currently tight across the board, but especially for us?!) and their computers aren’t set up (or they never had to learn how) to make the paid postage stickers for postcards? 😂

So I ordered some postcard stamps online and I guess they should arrive in 5-10 days, but until then I’m limited to folded cards… 😂

Anybody else got a funny story like this? 😂

[Request] (current or all-time) Favorite Book, Movie, TV Show, or Game? [USA]

Hi everyone! I'm heading back to work next week after summer break (guidance-counselor-adjacent at a middle/high school), and my stomach is doing flipsies! (I'll be starting year 4, so I don't know how to explain myself, lol!)

I would love to read about your current or all-time favorite book, movie, TV show, or game (video game/card game/board game/anything!) and why you like it, to help calm my nerves! If anyone has the time to send me something? ❤️

For card themes, I'm not picky! But here are some of my favorite motifs, if it helps -

Fall/Autumn/Cozy/Spooky Season
Fine art (Renaissance, Baroque, Impressionism)
Woodland animals
Vintage Americana
Moon & Stars/constellations/outer space
Illustrations of fruits/veggies/plants
Travel related/Faraway places
Anything related to Japan
Sailor Moon
90s nostalgia
Sci-fi, Horror, Traditional Fantasy (Unicorns, dragons, mermaids)
Witchy, queer, rainy/snowy weather, Violin, sheet music

Thanks for your consideration! Also if you send me something with a return address and use a key phrase like "Awaiting your reply" I'll send you a reply by mail!! ❤️

Sent out first batch of "political woolgathering" offer cards!

It was my first time making postcards from scratch so I'm anxious to see that they make them to their recipients safely! ❤️

(I'm making postcards out of my Washington Voter's Pamphlet from a couple weeks ago!)

[Thank You] Ran out of time the other day! So I have MORE Thank Yous!

Once again, I just can't say how appreciative I am. I had forgotten the sheer joy of opening the mailbox and finding colorful mail! This is the second half of letters I've received over the past few weeks that I was saving up to open on my birthday a few days ago 😄 Truly I'm so grateful!

I have 18 people I'm going to tag 3 at a time and write thank you's out to in the comments ❤️ Maybe tomorrow I'll take a photo of the whole birthday card haul and put it over on the Meta group!!

Coloring postcards!?

I never knew these existed until a couple days ago, had to grab them! I can’t decide if I ought to offer to color them and send them out (I think this was the intention given the caption, and I do enjoy coloring!🤣) or offer to send out blank ones in an envelope? What do you think would be the more popular option? 🥰

[request] Card for my birthday, August 7th 🎂[USA]

Good morning everyone! I'm not sure if it's too early to request a card or two for my birthday, which is next month, August 7th! More than anything, I've always loved birthday mail. It's the very best gift in my book.

I really love homemade or decorated cards, but I'd really appreciate ANY card!

Below isn't necessary to read, it's just if you'd like some inspiration!

❤️ If you'd like a prompt, I'd love to know, if you could go anywhere, do anything, for ONE day (your birthday), no money required, but you can't bring anything back with you except the memory... How would you spend that day?

❤️ If you come up blank, maybe tell me about your favorite birthday tradition? Or your favorite treat to have on your birthday?

❤️ Motifs I love - Pastel colors, Japan, fine art (Renaissance, Baroque, Impressionism), Sailor Moon, outer space, moon & stars, witchy, bookish, queer, travel, corgis, dragons, unicorns, flowers, illustrated fruits

Thanks for your consideration, I hope you're staying cool this summer!

[Thank you] For the wonderful mail!

u/tasty_university_172 I loved reading your thoughts on Blair Witch (2016), if you'd like, I'd love to send you a letter reply! I could geek out about horror genre books and movies all day, so I really loved your take!

u/independent_mud2700 Thank you so much for such a cool postcard with such a cool stamp!

u/blackberrysimple1730 I loved reading your thoughts on Las dos Fridas and thoughts on "duality" and "dual experiences." I found what you said strikingly relatable and went to take a look at the art piece right away. Thank you so much for sharing!

Can magic create, or only transform things?

At first I thought the concept was “they use symbols etc. and what they draw comes to life,” but in most (all?) cases I can think of, they had to transform existing elements (Qifrey changes clouds to water to make a water dragon, the girls change walls to sand to make sand clouds, etc.) so it’s more like transfiguration.

(Although maybe this is a self-made limit because I can think of some forbidden magic that I think oversteps that?)

Did I miss/misunderstand the part where this was answered (I have read the manga as well)? Is the magic system creating things or only transforming things?
