PLEASE HELP, someone is using my mothers name
Back in the ’90s, my father’s cousin approached my mother and asked if they could use her name so she could work abroad as an OFW. At that time, my sibling and I were still babies, and my mother grew up in the province. Because we were struggling financially, she agreed and trusted the promises they made to her.
Although my mother did receive some benefits or payments from them before, we are not disregarding that. However, what she received was not at all what they had originally promised.
Until now, they are still using my mother’s name. I was shocked to find out that even the business they have here in the Philippines is registered under my mother’s name.
If my mother consults a lawyer and asks for legal assistance, is there a possibility that we can have her name returned to her? What could be the possible legal grounds for taking action, and what consequences might they face if we decide to pursue this legally?
