FedEx Rejected Hazmat, but it was their fault
We had a fully regulated DG Air Package go out, that was supposed to be priority overnight. It was picked up on a Friday and the next Monday it hadn’t gone anywhere according to tracking. I called FedEx to inquire and was told at that time that it was held by mistake and would be shipping that night. The next day, same thing, it hadn’t moved and was now showing it was ready for pickup at one of the Hubs. I drive all the way to the hub to pick up the package, as it was clearly being rejected at this point and thought maybe some of the DG markings or paperwork was incorrect.
They bring the package out to me with a massive gash in the side of the box and tracking stickers all over the DG markings. On the DG checklist they filled out, the only things that were marked as reason for rejection was damage to the box and obstructed markings. Everything our shipper did was correct and FedEx completely messed this up.
What the hell kind of training is FedEx giving to its handlers and drivers? We just lost out on about $1200 worth of profit because of this. Every employee should know you can’t put stickers over hazmat markings and why the hell would you handle a hazmat package so carelessly that it ends up with a giant hole torn into it? Train your people better damnit.
