Can anyone in Valorant be the best player two years in a row?

In CS, ZywOo coldzera and s1mple have achieved this, and ZywOo is very likely to do it again this year. In League of Legends, Faker was the best player for several consecutive years. Yet in Valorant, no one has managed it, forget two years in a row, not a single person has even been named player of the year twice. I feel like Valorant's star players are a bit disappointing in that regard.

why don't Riot make a 16 teams swiss stage ?

Just like the ongoing CS Major Stage 3, there are 16 teams, all BO3s, and you need three wins to advance. There’s clearly a better format right there, so why doesn't Riot use it? Why does Riot always insist on using a 12-team format? 12 is always a weird number for a tournament, and an 8-team double-elimination Swiss system is just as bizarre.

The Astralis era ended because other teams constantly studied their playstyle and eventually caught up. Their tactical gap over everyone else was massive, so once that gap closed, their edge vanished. The pandemic also dealt them a blow.

But with the current Vitality era, even if you anti-strat them by watching their demos every day, it’s hard to reach their level. Their tactics aren't necessarily miles ahead, instead, what they lead in is much harder to replicate. Also their individual skill is so high. They have the best player in the world, which is something Astralis didn't have.

I think Vitality's era will likely end from within. Their age structure isn’t young—apEX and mezii are getting older, with flameZ being the only truly young player. Of course, they might extend the era through roster moves.
