I never knew McCoy Tyner went jazz-funk-soul fusion! With Gary Bartz, Stanley Clarke, Phyllis Hyman and Santana. I’m not the biggest fan of “fusion” when it starts to sound cheesy like Weather Report and even a lot of Stanley Clarke’s work but this record does it for me. The right side of fusion! But I can see why the purists would have hated this record from one of Jazz’s hallmark artists. I got this copy in a 20 record collection for £25. There’s some excellent records in it and the fella just wanted to get rid of them. I’m going through them and selling the ones I’m not into for cheap… there’s an Archie Shepp record that’s just too free for me!
