So, regarding MSigma — they offer both B.Tech tuition classes and GATE coaching. Right now I’m in S2, so I haven’t explored the GATE side much yet since most of it properly starts from S3 onwards.
Talking about the B.Tech classes first: if you’re someone who genuinely needs coaching even just to pass subjects, then I’d say MSigma is decent enough. Their classes are helpful, but personally I wouldn’t say they’re enough on their own if your target is extremely high scores like 9.5+ CGPA. For that, self-study is still very important — solving PYQs, referring to textbooks, practicing questions regularly, etc.
If your goal is somewhere around 7-9 CGPA then MSigma is honestly fine. But one mistake many students make is just watching the classes and directly going for exams. That alone usually won’t work. You have to properly revise, attend the marathons, practice the problems they discuss, and study the notes they provide. On top of that, you should still use your college textbooks and PYQs.
If your expectation is just to pass comfortably, then yes, MSigma is good enough.
One thing that personally bothered me though is that most classes are still taught using iPads. I had expected smart board classes, and personally I find smart board teaching much better and easier to revisit during exam time. Since it’s mostly iPad-based, I honestly don’t feel motivated to watch classes later on. This is obviously a personal preference, but for me it’s kind of a deal breaker.
Now, for Maths — their classes were actually really good. I scored an excellent CGPA & topped my college. But again, relying only on the classes without additional effort probably won’t get you there. I feel like solely depending on the classes may keep your semester CGPA somewhere above 8, but not necessarily at the very top level.
About the GATE coaching: from whatever I’ve seen and heard so far, it’s actually good. Many people speak highly about it. But again, most of the classes still seem to be iPad-based. I think Engineering Mathematics was taught on a smart board, but many others weren’t. If you’re okay with that style of teaching, then it shouldn’t be an issue.
For programming subjects like C or Python, I personally didn’t find their classes that helpful. I felt textbooks, PYQs, notes from sites like KTU special or ktu notes, and YouTube resources helped me more. For C programming especially, channels like Dr. Jisu Jacob are really helpful.
So overall, my opinion is:
- For GATE prep + B.Tech together → MSigma is worth considering.
- For Maths subjects → really good.
- For programming subjects → not that great personally.
- For just passing subjects → definitely helpful.
- For top-tier CGPA goals → you’ll still need strong self-study alongside the classes.
And one final thing — if someone from MSigma happens to read this, please consider shifting more classes to smart boards instead of iPads. I genuinely think many students would prefer that in the long run. Also, before anyone says this sounds AI-generated or overly polished — I was honestly too lazy to type all of this manually, so I used ChatGPT’s voice-to-text transcription and refined the grammar a bit. The opinions are still completely mine.
This is not some sponsored or biased post either. I’ve seen a lot of people repeatedly asking whether MSigma is worth taking or not, both recently and in older posts on this subreddit, so I just thought of sharing my honest experience.
