Curling Coins

In the curling world, before most games you flip for advantage (hammer). So more and more we’re seeing custom coins for this purpose. Any other curlers out there?

User threatening legal action via personal email

Hey folks, we have an outside user that doesn't like an old review of a product his company makes and is trying to force us to take the post in question down and has threatened legal action against reddit and ourselves. This initially came through modmail but now the user is emailing mods directly threatening legal action.

I gave a standard, "Since you have referenced potential legal action, we are obligated to stop direct communication. As volunteer moderators of r/Subreddit, we are not employees of Reddit Inc. and do not represent the company in any legal capacity. Any legal concerns must be addressed to Reddit Inc. through their official legal channels. We will not engage further on this matter and are muting this conversation to prevent additional contact.

Please direct your attorney to review Reddit's legal process guidelines at the following page: https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/12793653507860-Guidelines-for-civil-and-non-government-legal-requests-for-account-information."

This concludes our engagement. No further action will be taken. Any further attempts to discuss this matter with us will be reported to Reddit as harrassment.

My question is how do you report emails regarding reddit action that happen outside the platform?

I can link the text of the email if that is beneficial in any way Here's the post in question.

https://www.reddit.com/r/lightingdesign/comments/1nr6p45/my_experience_with_cryofx/

One of many complaints cited: "The post contains 3 copyrighted images and related material owned by ---- that were never authorized, licensed, or otherwise approved for public reproduction, distribution, or display on Reddit. These photographs originated with ---- and were created by ---- personnel using ---- equipment. Providing material privately to a customer did not transfer copyright ownership or grant that individual an unrestricted license to reproduce and publicly distribute ---- copyrighted works."

Malört Curling Charity Fundraiser is Back!

Hey folks, you may remember we did this last year, we're back, bigger and better than ever! This year we're raising money for Kaleidoscope Youth Center in Columbus Ohio and the Chris Moore Legacy Fund at USA Curling. The auction runs from July 8th until the 18th at 8pm but we're collecting donations all month.

https://givebutter.com/malort

This year's auction includes:

- Signed jerseys from Korey Dropkin AND Cory Thiesse

- Thanks to Rock League, 2 full weekend passes to their Utica event AND Thanks to John Cullen, that package includes signed copy of his book Curling Rocks.

- Some Fernet and Malört Merch

-a Malört disco...bottle

- a copy of Mystic Curling Club by Asmadi Games (and some cool other TTRPG stuff)

- a tour/tasting at New Riff Distillery in Kentucky

-Signed merch from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Columbus Blue Jackets

and a bunch of other activities and adventures around Ohio.

You have 10 days, so get your bids in, help raise money for some great groups, and get some cool stuff in the process. You can help us by sharing the link and auction to your friends/curling clubs/networks. We *can* ship to Canada but obviously most of this is US based stuff. Cheers and Good Curling!

Temporary pause in self promo posts

Hey folks, we’re putting a temporary moratorium on self promo posts. We (like so many other subs) are seeing a massive influx of vibe coded apps. For now all self promo posts will be removed. In the near future we will be moving to a single self-promo day where these kinds of posts are allowed.

Creative new projects can be awesome and innovating and we don’t want to stifle that avenue for developers and creators, but we are going to limit the scope and provide more guidelines. Primarily the limiting of posts to promo day, and disclosures on where AI was used in the process.

A major note about these posts and any apps/websites/software, we can’t vet or verify any of the code, or the intentions of the creator. Be wary of providing emails, contact info or payment, especially if an app was vibe coded.

Thanks for your patience as we make some shifts.
