hey guys first time posting and hope this is okay to ask!
little bit of context - im looking to get into physical media and only just learnt a few weeks ago that some blu rays are region locked. im from australia and we dont get a lot of releases here and there are some UHD that i can get on amazon global and until today have just assumed i cant play them here (theres also a little disclaimer on the product saying it wont work in my region). BUT i just saw somewhere that 4k blu rays are almost always region free?

So is it possible if I simply get 4k versions it should play?

specifically this collectors version of The Drama from amazon AU - which has both HD and UHD.

when i click on it, the disclaimer pops but but is it safe to assume that it only applies for the HD disk but the UHD should play fine on any 4k blu ray player?

Not sure if this is allowed but i want some opinions. I think i have a very weird taste in anime but also havent seen enough to really form an opinion. ive watched a few main ones obviously like one piece, naruto, DBZ, full-metal alchemist, death note etc. all which are great, but also not so mainstream ones like Inu Yasha and Tsubasa Chronicles.

overall i think i like anime with a bit of complexity and interesting themes and less so interested in action and romance.

any recommendations you guys have that fit this?

I have an old Marantz SR8002 given to me from a friend and recently the left channel has been getting quieter and giving off a bit of a 1-2khz buzz.

from my limited knowledge i assume its probably a leaky capacitor because of its age and would be generally easy to fix, but some other people i know said most shops wouldn't want to work on it because of its age or it would be expensive, so im a bit confused.

also, i dont really need all the features it has and its quite big for my room. Im mostly a pro audio engineer with active monitors and DA converters. the amp was used to power a secondary pair of dynaudio focus 110s which i use just for referencing.

so if it ends up being expensive enough to fix, id rather spend a bit more and buy another amp that has similar quality but without all the extensive features. i only only use those monitors for nearfield listening (about an arms length away) and my studio isn't much bigger than a medium size bedroom so i dont think i need a lot of power too.

do you guys think its worth the fix or know any other amps that are abit smaller, cheaper but similar audio quality to the Marantz?

i do quite like the sound quality from them so anything in the same world would be great

So long story short, my Barefoot 02s (which i LOVE) have been acting up recently, last year it was one monitor, and this week it was the other -both slightly different issues. the most recent one still not fully fixed. And while i love them for how well my mixes translate to other systems (i havent had to check my mix in the car for years) , im genuinely considering moving on to something else that may be a bit more reliable. or at least having a the barefoots as backups once fixed.

The footprints were great for the price and i dont really think i see myself needing anything more than what they offer, both because of budget and my room size/ treatment.

So essentially I am wondering if there are any other monitors that offer the low end response and mid range clarity in the same price range?

I have been looking at the Adam A8H but worried about the midrange and dont have much knowledge or experience with focals. other than that, i don't really know many brands in that price range with the quality of the barefoots.
