Evidence of Canadian Presence 1875-1880
Joseph Marin LeBeau was born in Saint-Placide, Quebec, Canada in Jan 1851. He lived there until he was a teenager before moving to the states & marrying Delia Desnoyers in Feb 1872 in Chicago, IL. They had 2 children in Chicago in 1873 & 1874, then returned to Quebec (allegedly to Longueuil) for several years so Joseph (who learned the carpenters trade) could run a planing mill. While there, they had 3 more children; first 2 of which were baptized in St. Antoine de Longueuil, Chambly, Quebec in 1876 & 1877 and the other was baptized at Ste-Angélique in Papineauville, Quebec in 1877 (that’s not a typo. Delia had 2 babies in 1 year ~ 11mths apart). A US census shows they returned to the states in 1880. Can anyone find evidence of Joseph living in Canada from 1875-1880? Such as land ownership or something related to his running a planing mill? I have spent many hours searching censuses, loans, notaries, etc on Ancestry, Family Search, and BanQ and keep coming up empty. I have a baptismal record for Joseph and a US death cert but need a Canadian secondary piece of evidence for my citizenship app. Thank you!
