Tips for washing in winter

Hey everyone,

New Englander here bracing for winter. I usually shut off and drain my outdoor spigots for the season to prevent frozen pipes, which leaves me without a standard hose hookup.

How you all tackle winter washes inside the garage.

Are products like ONR (Optimum No Rinse) or P&S Absolute the way to go here?

If I use a pump sprayer or foam sprayer to apply product, what’s the best method for rinsing off road salt and grime without flooding the garage floor?

Any specific battery/pump sprayers or setup tips you recommend?

my garage is unheated and does not have a floor drain.

Appreciate any tips or workflows you guys rely on during the cold months

Trim Covers

Has anyone tried these trim covers instead of vinyl wrapping chrome trim? Wondering if they actually look good and cover all the chrome or if some of the molding is still visible.

Hey all! It was time to replace my '12 Impreza and ended up getting this beaut. Wondering what kind of mods people have done here. Can be appearance/performance.

For now, I'm just planning to do a chrome delete and painting the calipers. Looking for some suggestions on caliper colors.

Just bought a car that’s about 3 years old and honestly the paint is in really good shape already. I want to keep it that way, but I’m completely overwhelmed trying to figure out the best process and products.

Couple questions for you guys:

  • Should I wax it regularly or just go straight to ceramic coating?
  • Is ceramic coating actually worth it for a daily driver?
  • If wax, what kind do you recommend? Spray wax? Paste? Sealant?
  • Should I clay bar it even if the paint already feels pretty smooth?
  • What’s the difference between wash/wax/sealant products and are any of those actually good?
  • What’s your go-to process for keeping paint clean and protected long term?

Main goal is:

  1. Keep the paint looking great
  2. Make washing easier
  3. Protect it long term without spending my entire weekends detailing

Would love recommendations for beginner-friendly products too. I don’t mind putting in effort, just trying not to buy a bunch of unnecessary stuff.
