My heart hurts

Idk how much more my heart can take. At this point the only thing getting me through is the hope that Cal and Seth will at least kiss like PLEASEEEE

Phleb/IV skills

Hi everyone!! I have been a med/surg nurse for 4 years now. At my hospital, nursing is not allowed to do IVs/blood draws (unless blood is being drawn from a central line). We have an IV team and phleb team that takes care of it all. There are also no opportunities to learn these skills at my work. I have only ever worked at this hospital as a nurse.

I feel kind of stuck at this hospital because i do not have these skills. I have placed 2 IVs in my entire nursing career and that was in school. It feels embarrassing to apply to a different hospital and say “hey i have no idea how to do this super basic nursing skill!” I don’t necessarily have plans of leaving this hospital anytime soon but i dont want to feel stuck either.

Should i be worried about this if i ever apply to another bedside job? Are there classes out there that i can take to obtain these skills? Any other thoughts?

People who skip RB

Currently reading Night from Live and Let Lionel and I am laughing so f*cking hard. The RBs are hilarious. Then I remember people who skip RB on their ZA journey and can’t help but feel bad for how much they are missing out on!!!

Oh boy do I have lots to say. This was not only my first marathon, but my birthday marathon! 26.2 miles for my 26th birthday in 2026. What could go wrong??? EVERYTHING. About a month out I sprained my ankle pretty bad. Swelling, bruising, pain. You name it. XRs were negative for a fracture so I kept pushing. Shin splints were my worst enemy this training block. Due to my ankle, my furthest run during this training block was only 10 miles (I do not encourage this whatsoever). The furthest I have EVER ran during one session was 15 miles so I was scared. I ran the race with my best friend. We were doing well up until mile 17. Intense nausea hit us both at the same time. While he was on the side of the road puking… I was in the toilet 💩. That added probably ~30 minutes onto our time. I also kept getting sharp left knee pain that would go away when I walked so run/walk intervals became our best friend. Overall, I am SO PROUD of what we accomplished. I would love to try for a sub 5 next year but only time will tell what I do next lol
