My experience with Thorogood vs Danner
I work in the dry end of a paper mill and have been switching between this pair of Thorogood pull-ons and Danner Bull Runs (both steel toe). In previous manufacturing jobs, I’ve mainly worn boots like Timberland Pros, Georgia Boots, etc, and while they were perfectly fine for those jobs, the timberlands I started with at the paper mill just didn’t cut it. Both the Danners and the Thorogoods make me feel safer and the white wedge soles are so much more comfortable through 12-16 hour shifts and help with recovery.
I have worn the Thorogoods off and on for roughly 6 months now and the Danners for about 2 months, 1.5 months of that being every day including a lot of overtime. I cleaned and oiled the Danners right before this pic. My main observation is that I believe the Thorogoods will last longer, while the Danners are more comfortable now that both are broken in. I also probably won’t purchase pull-ons again, I prefer lace-ups at least for my current job.
I have a new pair of Thorogood 8-inch lace-ups that I bought with my company’s boot voucher that I have high hopes for. I’ve worn them around the house some but shouldn’t have to wear them to work for at least a year or more I think.
