Syncing Radios to my Drum Machine
I wanted to add more external sounds to my drum machine so I made a piece of gear that can sync any audio source. It has 8 inputs that run through individually controlled analog switches and then mix together and go through an optical VCA. The switches can be controlled by a built-in sequencer or by a connection to the drum machine. The built-in sequencer has two modes, one is sequential like a multiplexer and the other uses a binary counter chip to mix all the signals together. The VCA CV input takes in the audio from the drum machine or any other source and uses its envelope to modulate the output of the mixer. The envelope can be inverted with a switch to give an effect like side-chain compression.
