Changing a status variable based without using automations
I am currently using the free tier as my needs are extremely minimal.
I have made a database for orders, and I am tracking different dates (eg. arrival, finished, sent) and I have a status variable for each order which is just a selection variable.
Now, I want the status to be automatically set based on which fields are not empty. This would be incredibly easy on something like excel to just create a function to do this, but it looked like it was a paid feature to be able to write these kinds of functions.
I have instead set up an automation that does it. It works like it should, but I run out of 'automation runs' each month as I am on free tier.
Again, I'm not going to go on paid tier, but I have not been able to find any solutions for this incredibly simple problem on my own.
The reason I am using airtables and not something like excel is because of how well I can link orders and images, and just general layout. I would really like to get airtables to auto set this variable without automations so that it just works, but if this isn't possible feel free to suggest alternative software
