my "fix" for an overheating tablo tv 4th gen

my "fix" for an overheating tablo tv 4th gen

as i outlined in this post. Was having issues watching my recorded world cup matches. Stuttering seems to be a side effect of the device throttling due to heat.

After using a 120mm fan to cool it and having positive results. I made a quick 3d model to hold the Tablo tv vertically with the 120mm fan blowing right at it. This seems to fix my issues with stuttering. Check out the make at https://makerworld.com/en/models/2977622-vertical-cooling-fan-stand-for-tablo-tv-4th-gen

let me know if it works for you!

Stuttering during playback and live view (Tablo 4th gen)

been quite frustrating trying to catch up on world cup games. First it was the antenna signal for fox - which i managed to finally fix, then it's stuttering on playback of recordings or live - all this with an ethernet connection. I had to download one of the matches to confirm that i wasn't crazy - the download plays back smooth, but playing direct always stutters!

i do have a 2TB external hdd (spinning portable drive) attached. the drive hasn't had any problems before. Is this a sign that the tablo device is overheating? what is the best practice to cool down the device? so frustrating trying to catch up on world cup matches after i get home.

btw, this is the most i've used that tablo, and also the first time i've been thankful i have one.

thanks in advance for any advice.

PSA - A2L uses >900W power on start of print job

this made the Cyberpower 900W UPS i had shut down on first calibration, and on every start of print. The X2D came close with audible warnings, but never topped 900W, whereas the A2L keep hitting > 900W and shut down the UPS. While the X2d has a "low power" mode where it caps wattage below 500w at the expense of slower heat bed warm up - A2L does not. looks like i will have to live dangerously with the A2L not connected to a UPS... sucks as it will likely have longer print jobs than the other printers... oh well. Consider yourself warned (if you care about this). Oh, and for those who say - buy another UPS, nope, not worth spending 200$ more for this printer (At least not now when it's unproven for my workflow)
