Installing Hairspring Into Regulator: Longines 12.68 with "Shock Resist"

Close Up Of Regulator Arm

Regulator Full Pic

To clean and inspect the jewels in this "Shock Resist" system you need to remove the balance wheel and take out screws that are underneath. Now that I have done my inspection, I am contemplating how to reassemble and found that the space for the hairspring to go into the regulation arm is VERY small (see first pic). I have seen on more modern mechanisms a way to turn the outer stud to adjust the amount of distance between the two pins, but this doesn't seem to have that option. I thought maybe I could put a small pin in that hole and twist it to open up the space a bit, but I see no indication on the bottom that the piece has ever been moved (no scratches or scuffs under the larger pin). Do I just have to be super precise when installing it back or can I move that larger pin with the hole in it? I didn't want to force it and potentially break it. TIA for any guidance!

Damaged Hairspring Seiko 4R36

This was a brand new SKX GMT. Wore for a week, wound it normally, and then just stopped running. Got it under the microscope and saw that the hairspring got turned back on itself (see pic). I took the balance bridge off and got the spring flattened out, but it’s way out of concentric circles. I assumed it would still run, but even untangled it wouldn’t run. The only other thing I saw was some excess lubricant under the ratchet wheel. I also de-maged it and it still wouldn’t run. Anyone else have something like this happen with a new movement? Any suggestions on where to start in getting it running again other than replacing the hairspring?

Two jewels in OEM parts, but stuck together! (Vintage Omega Part: 269-1342)

So I ordered NOS sealed upper and lower jewels for an Omega 269 and when I took them out of the factory box I noticed it seemed misshapen. On closer inspection I realized there were two on top of each other. While this seemed like a win (two for one? I will take it!), they were stuck together. I have done everything I can think of, soak in 99.9 IPA, soaked in hexane, put in IPA and ran in the ultrasonic for 20 minutes, covered with clear plastic and tried prying them apart... nothing gets these two unstuck. Has anyone else had this happen and if so, were you able to fix it? I am starting to think they were fused together when manufactured since they were inside the obviously factory sealed container this way. TIA for any help!

Titanium Bracelet Refinishing How To

Hello! I was hoping someone had a solid resource on how to refinish titanium bracelets and cases. I have an old Citizen that I want to try and nock down the hard scratches and get it back to a uniform brushed finish. A written guide or video guide would be much appreciated. The more details on tools and supplies used the better. TIA!
