I took my girl, Tika, to a vet because she was drooling a lot and the back of her throat is severely inflamed. The vet diagnosed stomatitis. The FIV/FeLV test came back negative and she said she was very surprised that it was negative due to how severe it was.
I have seen a lot of photos of other cats with stomatitis, and I havent came across many that look like Tika's. Ive seen a lot of photos and videos of severe inflammation, and some with even worse than hers. The back of her throat literally look like gigantic masses? I dont see that severity in photos of other cats. If my research shows correctly, they're the palatoglossal folds.
The vet had her on antibiotics because of some noticeable "pus" around these.
She also had her on a short acting steroid shot that lasted 3 days. She wants to do a full mouth extraction right away.
I am also aware of the ulcer on her tongue. She didnt say much about it.
Before I get it scheduled, I wanted to come on here and ask, is this actually a case of stomatitis? Should I get a 2nd opinion? The photos are over the course of the past month.
