Vintage Happy Home Sewing Needle Set

Missing one needle and the threader, bonus two random other needles! Can confirm, unrusted.

From what I can tell, made in Japan, mid-century, but I didn’t do a deep dive. Found in my craft stores, from either one of my grandmothers.

Antique Pince-Nez Metal Case

This lovely little pressed tin pince-nez case with wonderful patterns on front and back has purple velvet inside and is older than I originally thought, it likely comes from the Victorian era before the year 1900, perhaps somewhere from the 1870s to 1890s. What a beautiful find for a collector of pince-nez eyeglasses. ❤️

The hinge and clasp are fully intact and functional. The filigree pattern on the front and back is quite beautiful witj its contrasting patina and is nearly fully intact. No obnoxious markings or lettering are present on the outside of the case. The case is likely English or American due to its small stamp on the inner lip saying "PATENT APPLIED FOR" in English.

These astig bar-spring pince-nez from France (likely the Edwardian era) are fully functional and quite shiny, I had prescription lenses made for them. They fit quite nicely along with their earclip chain into the metal case. It is very compact and lightweight feeling. Overall a great find and practical for use with my pince-nez. Just thought I'd share this great little find with you all! 😊

Rate my Joe Camel artwork

I'm not an artist, really. Just make art for the love of the game. I'm based in Winston Salem, NC (camel city), and i'm a big fan of tobacciana. Anyways, thoughts, comments, suggestions? Here for all of it.

From Telegrams to the iPhone: Rio's Hidden Telephony Museum

On a trip to Rio de Janeiro, my wife surprised me with a visit to a hidden gem: the Museu das Comunicações e Humanidades (Musehum). Housed in a historic former telephone hub, this incredible space packs over 160 years of telecommunications history into a beautifully curated exhibition.

Vintage 1940s “Mixed Politics” punch board at an estate sale — elephant vs donkey boxing

Picked this up at an estate auction along with a bunch of others. Punch boards were everywhere in the 1940s and 50s, barbershops, diners, candy stores, basically scratch tickets before scratch tickets existed. Most were ruled illegal gambling in the early 1950s which is probably why they disappeared almost overnight.

This one is called Mixed Politics and has the Republican elephant and Democratic donkey literally boxing each other in a ring. 5 cents a ballot, $25 jackpot. Still has most of the punches intact. Colors still pop after all these years.

Feels oddly relevant for 2026.

Vintage Soviet Metal Mechanical Flip Perpetual Calendar

My research indicate the medallion is "in reference to 4 different Famous Bronze statues, Horse Tamers, one mounted at teach corner on Anichkov bridge across from Fontanka River, St. Petersburg, Russia."
