hi guys! i had laparoscopic surgery a little less than a month ago to remove endometriosis and adhesions from a previous ruptured appendix. during the procedure, my surgeon noted an abnormality with my uterus and recommended that i get an MRI to visualize it better. they also placed a Mirena IUD while i was anesthetized.
when the surgeon’s nurse called with the results, she relayed that the IUD was “in its proper place, but has a higher chance of migrating with your type of uterus”. i was able to see on my end that one of the arms is migrating.. i don’t want to put this energy out there, but i feel like it would be my luck to have it migrate entirely. i am also worried about its efficacy though i am not relying on it for BC.
i have had cramps on/off since insertion that have been different than my normal menstrual cramps. i was under the impression that it can take about 6 months before you notice signs of improvement.
any of you been in a similar situation? if my doctor said it’s ok i would like to trust that, but i also don’t want to risk the situation getting worse. i feel like my doctor would recommend replacing it, but being i think me being anesthetized would’ve been the most optimal time to place it.
if you have endo and got your IUD removed, can i ask what you turned to alternatively?
