Vibe chat is a mess now. A member of r/MistralAI was concerned about losing turn-based chat. This was 4 months ago. Well, it's gone now, and everyone notices it.

The replies to my queries are wider and deeper now, but global memory is GONE. I've compensated somewhat by having longer threads.

Skills and knowledge and special instructions simply do not replace turn-based chat.

I hope the company rethinks its position, but I doubt that they will. For me, this has become the wrong tool for the job.

Update: We're in the middle of a rollout which started in September. Our chat histories are supposed to be converted over to an editable Knowledge Base. Evidently, mine hasn't happened yet. I'll let you know!

NextDNS currently lacks an Android app, or at least NextDNS Manager "doesn't work on my device" , so you have to configure it using your mobile browser.

Blokada Cloud lacks a free tier, but offsetting this is the fact that you can install Blokada 5 from their website, and have unlimited DNS queries/month for free, and it's really simple to setup. Blokada Cloud recently experienced a price increase, so it's now $24.99/year, payable through the Play Store.

AFIC, a better deal is to subscribe to Blokada Plus, which is $5.99/month or $59.99/year, payable through the Play Store. Or, you can get an even better deal by going directly to their website, and subscribing there: it's currently $57.60/year, which works out to $4.80/month.

If you subscribe to Blokada Plus, you "automatically\* get Blokada Cloud at no extra charge. By comparison, ProtonVPN is $47.88 the first year, and $83.88/year thereafter.

Yesterday I subscribed to Blokada+. You can use their VPN with any version of their app: 4, 5, or 6.

However, only Blokada 6 gives you a Private DNS endpoint, which is constantly blocking ads and trackers on your device. So, on some days, or in some circumstances, you can choose not to fire up the VPN, and blocking is still occurring! And when apps like Hulu detect the VPN, you can create an app exception without sacrificing ad and tracker blocking on your device.

Pretty cool, and we've never had this capability before. What do you think?

The issue is, I play Checkers on https://www.flyordie.com/checkers. Before I can play a game, I have to sit through a 30-second ad. Thankfully, I don't actually see the ad, just a gray square and a moving cursor while the ad runs on their server.

If I remember correctly, I used to be able to play after a 5-second countdown.

I've reported this several times via the app, but the issue hasn't been resolved. This is a tricky situation, because DuckDuckGo is not doing anything wrong. But since it used to work faster, I wonder what changed?

For anyone who doesn't know, cli stands for command line interface. When I switch modes, from warp to doh, or back, I sometimes, but not always, get a GUI (graphical user interface) which pops up, and cannot be closed.

The only work-around is to log out and log back in.

At the network level, the app is working, as evidenced by running 1.1.1.1/help or dnsleaktest.com.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm running an LXDE desktop in the latest version of Debian Linux.

After learning to use the Cloudflare app on the Android, I discovered warp-cli for Linux. After going through a pretty simple install process, I'm happily using it all the time on my LXDE desktop.

One awesome feature is that after getting everything setup, it maintains its status across reboots. Most of the time, I leave it in warp mode.

When I want to watch Hulu, which is notorious for detecting VPN activity, I execute this command:

warp-cli mode doh

and then I watch Hulu. Afterwards, I execute this command:

warp-cli mode warp

which reestablishes the encrypted tunnel.
