First time launching on PH, would love some real advice before I pick a date

Hey everyone. I'm about to launch my product on Product Hunt for the first time and I could use some advice from people who've actually done this, instead of just reading generic checklists.

Quick context: I'm building a Shopify alternative platform for setting up an online store. I've read maybe ten "how to launch on PH" guides at this point and they all repeat the same three tips, so I'm hoping for something a bit more real from people who've been through it.

A few things I'm genuinely unsure about. Does self-hunting vs finding a hunter actually matter anymore, or is that outdated advice at this point? How much is "too much" when it comes to telling your existing users or friends the launch is happening, I don't want to look like I'm running a vote ring, but I also don't want to launch into total silence either. If your product isn't purely English-first out of the gate (mine leans European, some early users are French), did that hurt you on PH, or does nobody really care as long as the product itself works fine in English? And honestly, anything you wish someone had told you before your first launch that you ended up learning the hard way instead?

Not fishing for upvotes here, genuinely trying not to waste what's basically a one-shot first impression. Any war stories, good or bad, would help a lot.
