Any good spots to shore fish Lake Michigan and not get skunked?

I’d like to take my kids fishing in Lake Michigan. We do a lot of pond fishing for bass and catfish. We’ve tried river fishing in the western suburbs and always get skunked because we don’t know how to river fish, and we’re just winging it from shore. My grandparents used to take me somewhere in Chicago to fish from piers and we’d catch perch all day long and the occasional trout. That was decades ago though.

Are there any decent places like that still where you have a good chance of catching some smaller fish, but also opportunities to catch trout or salmon too from shore?

I can’t seem to find the correct replacement part number for my Giant OCR2. I purchased it around 2006 and it has a Shimano Tiagra front derailleur which is original Shimano part number FD-4403.

I tried a Shimano 4803-F based on ChatGPT’s recommendation, but it seems to be too “shallow” in height for the chain clearance. Like if the chain isn’t perfectly tight, the slightest sag in the smallest gear causes the chain to hit the derailleur.

Anyone know the correct replacement part number?
