Jenn here …. I am trying to locate whichever one of you amazing firefighters that sent this letter to Ashton.

I’ve cropped out the station letterhead and the signature in case whomever this is didn’t want to be identifief publicly.

But if this was you, can you please send me a quick message ? I’d like to properly thank you and all of my DMs here disappeared so I can’t sift through those to find you.

Nearing the end of my 1st 48hr fast

Hi all!

48F, just under 5 foot …

Began a journey to a healthier me in mid-March when my husband realized how out of control his own health was and was nudging his way towards becoming insulin dependent (He’s type 2).

At that point I weighed 204.8lbs… I weighed last Friday at 197.6. Isn’t horrible but I wanted to see if I could jump start a little more of this journey and started with IF in April with a 16/8 window which is where the weight loss has come from and also just in general making more mindful eating choices.

Decided last week I wanted to try a longer fasting period. I was originally going to do 72 hours but opted for 48 hours as I didn’t want to bonk out.

So I started my fast at the end of my eating window on Sunday (6:30pm) and am at hour almost 42. Honestly, I feel pretty great! No real hunger, no headaches or GI distress and I’m pleasantly surprised. My usual weigh in days are Wednesday so I’m anxious to see what that stacks up at tomorrow morning.

I just wanted to say hello! And good luck to all! Ive also started working on increasing my steps too and hope that helps! ;)

One final patch/mail update! ✨🚒

As you can see from the second picture (a screenshot from my notes ….) he’s received 61 packages with a total of 193 UNIQUE firefighter/EMS patches. He is now rocking a total of 333 patches!!!

He’s also received a few military and police patches which are JUST AS COOL and we have another project for them.

This picture of Ashton here is a package he received from someone here who is an instructor at a fire training academy and their clsss named Ashton an honorary member of their class! So cool!! :)

Again - you all went above and beyond for my boy and I’m so thankful for each and every one of you that posted kind words, reached out directly, sent patches or other items or are just genuinely cool people who live by the adage of “service to community doesn’t end when you leave the firehouse”.

You’ve made the start of Ashton’s 27th year SO amazing and he’s so blessed to be counted amongst y’all. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!

I know a couple more packages are still coming but this has been an amazing experience.

It’s Chick-fil-A Saturday!!

This is my son, Ashton and he is 27. He has lived by the philosophy that Chick-fil-A Saturday is an actual, real-life thing for at least 10 or so years. And I mean, EVERY single Saturday. If a holiday fell on Saturday and they’d be closed? We get it on Friday and reheat in the air fryer on Saturday LOL snow day and they close? Same thing LOL

So this morning he comes into our room and proclaims, “I have my CFA outfit on!” 🫪🤯😂

He ain’t wrong!

Autism and the need for routine can be difficult but this one? I can stand by for sure!

I Can Only Imagine … ✨ (sing along) - Ashton’s hidden talent

So one thing I never mentioned in any of my posts about Ashton is that he LOVES to sing. He loves singing along to songs in the car, movies that have songs or commercial jingles or TV show intros, etc. it is WILD. ✨

And he’s not half bad

Since you all have been so amazingly supportive of him and his story, I thought I’d introduce you to the softer side of Ashton and show you this video.

Mind you - he was considered severely Autistic and nonverbal at 2.5 years old. We were actually told he’d likely need tp be institutionalized - that is the bleak outlook we were given.

But - this boy (man! He is a grown up man son after all lol) has defied all odds and expectations.

I thought you all would enjoy this look into a side of Ashton that not many outside of our immediate family and circle of friends knows.

Unfortunately I don’t think I can post pictures of the patches in the comments here … but

I thought you all would get a kick out of guessing how many patches y’all have sent Ashton and also guessing how many total he has!

I will say he has almost DOUBLE the amount of patches that he started with …. You all have sent more patches in the last nearly two months than he had previously which is ASTOUNDING. And he’s still got stuff coming in!

Edited -oh wait. I think I can post pictures of him with his stuff in comments!!

Love when I can eat for free! 🤪

Had taken my son to the movies at lunchtime but Autism means he still wanted lunch afterwards and I had plenty of points to get our lunch free 🤪

But the look on the employees when they see the total always makes me chuckle but they know us well so know that we accrue points pretty quickly lol
